Let me start by saying the store is beautiful and the deals are great however, there are a few bad apples in the deli area that need to be plucked. My husband and I were there for the Grand opening and decided we would try the deli. There were three young AA working there ,not one was attentive or professional. The line was long and we witnessed several people walk away. One guy was on his cellphone, I believe his name on the badge was TJH. The girl seemed lackadaisical as she was leaning over the counter when she finally decided to help customers in line. Aside from the deli, we were pleased with the service. The ladies in the bakery were helpful and the Starbucks in the store is a cherry on top.

Checked out the brand new Thompson in Sunnyvale. It's laid out really nicely. I found everything I'd been looking for, including the star fruit that nobody else was carrying. I like that they had nice clean bathrooms, a Starbucks so I could drink while I'm shopping and everything was well lit so I could read labels. Produce looked awesome and there were several gentlemen in the produce area to answer any questions. The floral department was really nice. Also, it's larger than my regular Tom thumbs and it was fully staffed. I think this is going to be my new go-to grocery store

Tom Thumb is officially open! I’ve been waiting for the store to open ever since it was announced. I had a great experience at Tom Thumb. The store was clean, well organized, and reasonably priced. The staff was also very helpful and friendly, which made the shopping experience even better. I would definitely shop here again!

I was SUPER excited to shop here for the first time for my bi-weekly groceries! I downloaded the App, I clipped the coupons, I even went through the whole App to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. The store itself is nice! Very clean and organized. I liked most of the produce but think more Organic options would be better. I had an entire cart load of groceries. My Son and I proceeded to the checkout where my entire opinion of the store changed. As I was checking out, the manager (I believe) came up behind the cashier and “watched” the transaction. Not sure why. It was the only checkout lane open and I felt she could have been more helpful by opening another register. Anyway, I had included in my transaction about 5 gift cards to purchase. After the cashier rang it all up, I asked for the cards so I could put them into my purse. She denied and said she had to wait to give them to me with the receipt. Fine. Store policy. I wasn’t gonna complain about that. However, I used Apple Pay and the computer basically “crashed”. It completely locked up. Neither the cashier nor the Manager lady knew what to do so the Manager decided to transfer my entire transaction to her computer at customer service. Fine. Whatever. I had to make sure she still had my gift cards that I was purchasing as well but no harm, no foul. However, then what bothered me the MOST happened. She didn’t exactly apologize for my inconvenience, but she scolded me for having a large transaction! Basically accusing me of “causing” the problem in the first place! I am sorry. Maybe if their prices weren’t so high, I wouldn’t have had such a large purchase! I eat Organic and we all know how much more that is! I have NEVER felt so berated before in my life! I have been an avid customer of the Kroeger in Forney and they have always been super kind! I even am allowed to use the self checkout and buy my own gift cards with out any “rules” attached to them! I was SO excited to have a grocery store in my home town. But now….I think I will just continue to drive to Forney. Very sad.

I’m not impressed. Let me just start there. This is a brand new Tom Thumb that just opened in my neighborhood, and I genuinely thought I’d go check it out, buy my full bill of groceries, give them a fair shot. What I got instead was a truly, truly gut-wrenching experience. The lady who was manager went out of her way to be rude and gruff for absolutely no apparent reason. Combative for no reason. And I mean went out of her way. Here I am with a whole cart of groceries, trying to spend my hard-earned money, and she decides to make it difficult like I’m trying to pull one over on her. It turned into this ridiculous song and dance about a deal I supposedly didn’t clip correctly on my phone. And here we go again with Tom Thumb’s insane coupon logic. You can’t get a deal unless you buy a pickle, a toothbrush, and an air freshener first. It’s always hoops. Always hoops. I’m standing there thinking, why am I working this hard to give you my money? She actually said, Well, I gave it to you for the price. Oh. Wow. Thank you. You gave it to me for the price you advertised it for? Man. Huge favor. I really appreciate that. Jesus Christ. It felt like I was playing cards with my brother’s kids or something. And let me be clear: I’m not tech-unsavvy. I work in a tech field. If your system is so confusing that even I’m missing the fine print, and you’re telling me you’ve had multiple problems with this same issue at the counter that day, then what is the deal? That’s not my fault. The whole interaction was unnecessarily hostile. I don’t know who tinkled on her toes this morning, but there was absolutely no reason to be rude, gruff, and combative. She made me feel like I was inconveniencing her by shopping there. I walked out feeling horrible… she flat-out ruined my day. If I had gotten her name, and I should have, I would have called corporate. Now let’s talk about the store itself. I didn’t see a single deal I couldn’t get at any other Tom Thumb. Nothing special. Nothing impressive. And I hated the layout. I really did. The whole store felt backwards. I didn’t like that it immediately pushes you to the right. In my opinion, a grocery store should flow counterclockwise, not clockwise. The meat department, the overall flow… it just didn’t work. There’s another Tom Thumb on the other side of town with a better layout than this one, and even that store is struggling. Parking was another problem. I’m disabled. I’m an amputee. There were no available handicapped spots, which is unfortunately always an issue, and it made the experience even more frustrating before I even walked inside. Look, I’m doing you a favor by shopping in your store. You’re not doing me a favor by selling something at the price you said you would sell it for. If you want to give me a coupon, just give me a coupon. Don’t make it so doggone difficult that people are constantly stuck at the counter arguing over the superduper fine print. I’ll tell you this right now, I live equal distance between this Tom Thumb and the new HEB they’re building in Forney. You wanna guess which direction I’ll be driving when that HEB opens? Anybody who’s been to an HEB is not impressed by this place. HEB is coming for you, Tom Thumb. Your pale white horse galloping at breakneck speed. Not impressed. Not impressed at all. HEB can’t open soon enough! Dec 17, 3:15pm.
