Visiting from Los Angeles and we looked for the best brisket in town. This is where we were directed and it didn’t disappoint. Aurin and his wife Mary ;) were very cool people!! Mary recommended the Cole slaw as a side and it definitely met expectations. My son has some ribs with some brisket and happy to say he was very satisfied! I definitely recommend this place for your bbq wants!!

The brisket tastes great and is well served (portions). I didn’t take any pictures to show you, sorry. But take my word the brisket tastes awesome and try their bbq sauce.
My wife and I both had brisket and chicken, both good. Plates are generously portioned and reasonably priced. I'll definitely be back.

Hands down, one of the best bbq places in town. The prices are good, service passes muster, and the food is deliciously consistent. The best meat is the brisket! The sides are pretty good too. My biggest complaint is the environment. There is little to no seating on the inside of the restaurant. When it gets busy, which is quite frequently, people are literally standing by your table waiting for you to finish and it’s quite annoying. On top of that, the floors are completely uneven, and when you do manage to find indoor seating, the air conditioning doesn’t work and the huge fans they use to cool the place down are noisy and only serve to push the hot air around. While there is seating outside, most of the seating is completely falling apart. The wooden tables and chairs are covered in splintering wood and chipping paint and the metal ones are hard and in the same condition. The covered outdoor seating area is covered in flies and there is no air conditioning or fans that actually work. San Antonio is hot city, and this establishment’s lack of attention to improving the look and comfort of their restaurant is a huge issue.

A true San Antonio BBQ gem!
Augie’s Barbed Wire Smokehouse is everything you want in classic Texas BBQ. The meats are smoked to perfection—tender, juicy, and packed with real smoke flavor that you can tell comes from years of experience. You can taste the care and tradition in every bite.
The brisket was phenomenal, the sausage had great snap and seasoning, and the portions were generous. The sides complemented the BBQ perfectly and felt homemade, not afterthoughts. Service was friendly and efficient, and the laid-back, no-frills atmosphere makes it feel like a true local spot—not a tourist trap.
If you’re looking for authentic, old-school BBQ in San Antonio, this place is a must. Definitely worth the drive and absolutely lives up to the hype. I’ll be back again and again.
