Being born and raised in Louisiana, I was so excited to have a place to be able to enjoy a little bit of home. Pros and cons here. The food, tasted just like home. The spices, the consistency all around tasted great! The service was absolutely wonderful! However, when you walk in, its a bit confusing as all you see at first is the daiquiri machines. I wasn't sure I was in the right place. I ordered 2 crawfish pies and 2 boudon balls. Just wanted to see how authentic it was before ordering a meal. Everything tasted good but the quantity/size was suprising, especially for the price. The crawfish pies were mini bites and the boudin balls were just a bit bigger than the size of a golf ball. For $22.00 I feel a bit cheated though. Back home the boudin balls are the size of softballs and the crawfish pies are the normal size of a meat pie. If your from Louisiana you'd know what Im saying.
I do recommend this establishment for authentic taste of Louisiana southern food as long as your're willing to pay a high price for the small portions. (Pics attached)

Stopped by to try Retreats and had great conversation with Mo. Being from Lafayette Louisiana and from the Baton Rouge area, we had quite a bit in common from a family roots standpoint. The food was good and hot, very fresh and quiet delicious. Looking forward to stopping in again to try more dishes, I had chicken and sausage gumbo and Jambalaya! Both were great!

We went to Retreats, mid-afternoon on a Thursday, for lunch. The food and service were excellent! We had gumbo ("mom's recipe") and shrimp and catfish 9" po'boys. We didn't try the daiquiris but it looked like that had a huge selection.
The place is easy to miss and you must turn right, immediately after getting onto 96 going West.
Give them a try. They won't disappoint!

This restaurant accepts only card payment which is made when ordering to include the tip. I noticed that the tip setting was at the highest and it's up to the customer to change it prior to tapping your card. They also require a tip prior to receiving foods or service. The shrimp and fish were delicious, however; I thought I was being Punked when I tasted the Gumbo. The Gumbo was awful. I couldn't eat it and I wasn't offered a refund. I don't believe in tipping prior to receiving the foods or services and good customer service would replace the uneaten Gumbo or providing a refund especially when the customer complained about the Gumbo and didn't eat it. I will return for the shrimp and fish. Although pricey; I don't mind paying extra for good foods.

Biggest rip off you will ever experience!
Don’t eat here if you’re actually hungry!
I rarely eat out as I work extremely hard for my money but thought I’d treat myself to my fave type of food- cajun. When I saw that the shrimp special was 3 pieces, I assumed that it was 3 skewers probably equaling 6 in total as is the case with every other restaurant I’ve visited. It didn’t occur to me that the owners of this business were so without conscience that they’d charge over $13 for anything so pathetic and embarrassing as 3 pieces of shrimp. Boy was I wrong! As I sat there waiting for over 20 mins in a loud, charmless, “restaurant” sipping my water because the alternative was knockoff sodas without a single diet or sugar-free option, I became extremely hungry. Lo and behold when my feast arrived, 3 salty, rubbery, greasy shrimp looked back at me. Knowing any owner who would unironically serve this insult and take your money for it was not the kind to issue a refund, I ate my 20+ cooking time meal in under 2 mins (considering there was nothing to actually eat I drug it out a bit). When I was asked how the meal was I said “I would have liked more than 3 shrimp and wouldn’t be back” I was corrected by the condescending employee that I was given what I ordered. Ok fair enough, however, when I told her “I thought it was skewers because I had never heard of a restaurant serving three shrimp for anything” she turned to the another patron and started laughing at me. There was no point in engaging with a grown woman who behaved so abhorrently unprofessionally-so I took my leftover burnt fries and left. I’m all about supporting local businesses-but this place DOES NOT DESERVE TO SUCCEED! They do not value you-only your money! You’d be better off lighting your bills on fire as it least it wouldn’t enable this “business” to continue.
TLDR
:3 shrimp, burnt fries, and water for $13 ($15 for an undeserved tip)
Rude condescending staff
Knockoff diabetes inducing drink choices
Charmless, loud, and echoing ambience
The deep feeling of regret that can only come after being robbed.
