Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.

- JPJoey PaugaJan 25, 20263.0We stopped by this Whataburger late on a Friday night—around 10:30pm—just looking to grab burgers and hang out. The location itself is great and very easy to get to. The food? Exactly what you expect from Whataburger: hot, fresh, and on point. No complaints there at all. When it comes to the food alone, they absolutely deliver. That said, the vibe inside the restaurant that night was a little uncomfortable at first. While we were eating, a young kid came in and began interacting with one of the employees in a way that caught our attention. After a few minutes, it became clear they knew each other and eventually sat down to eat together. Being there with my son and a friend with her son, it made us more alert than we would’ve liked to be. Another group came in later and joined them, which didn’t really help ease that initial feeling. We were just there for burgers—not to wonder what was going on around us. Cleanliness was another area that could use some attention. The floors and drink station weren’t very clean, with visible syrup splashes and areas that clearly needed wiping down. Since the restaurant was pretty empty at that hour, it felt like a good opportunity for those things to be handled. The service itself wasn’t bad, and no one was rude, but the overall upkeep of the dining area didn’t match what I usually expect from this brand. Would I stop here again? Possibly—but not late at night. If I do, it’ll be drive-thru only and only if I’m really craving Whataburger and can’t make it to another location. Great food and a convenient spot, but a little more attention to atmosphere and cleanliness would go a long way in making this a place I’d feel completely comfortable bringing my family back to.
