    I placed an order for a sausage, egg, and cheese McGriddle and selected the customization NO CHEESE (I did this because that’s the only way to get it with the two-dollar breakfast sandwich deal). I left the restaurant and was already at my destination when I opened the bag and found that the sandwich had cheese on it. I returned to the store, which was an inconvenience, and spoke with Sarah, the shift manager. She apologized and said the error occurred because they were busy. The reality is that McDonald’s is a popular fast-food chain, and this was during the breakfast rush. Being busy cannot be a viable excuse. That’s the normal pace of the business. Team members should be coached to ensure accuracy at that pace, even if it requires additional steps. I don’t want apologies or free food. I want my order made correctly the first time. This interaction wouldn’t have been necessary, and I wouldn’t be spending this time, if the staff had taken the time to do it right initially. My frustration is compounded by the fact that similar errors have occurred during my recent visits to multiple McDonald’s locations. I don’t subscribe to the idea that it’s “just McDonald’s,” as if I shouldn’t expect my order to be correct. If I make a request that I’m paying for, I shouldn’t be forced to take whatever is handed to me simply because it’s a fast-food establishment. From a business perspective, that should never be considered acceptable. I would hope that Meagan, this location’s general manager, will look into this matter and provide the training and support needed to ensure this team is better able to meet customer demands in the future.
