Amazing sushi and great bar energy. Sit where you can people-watch.
Favorites: hirame #1, hamachi #2, madai #3. Would order all again. Scallops were sliced & okay (he loved them).
Skip the chicken and steak skewers! —odd, slimy texture.
Pork potstickers were crunchy/greasy; fine for a group.
The brussel sprouts were good, but just a filler.
Strawberry tequila drink was good but too sweet. The espresso cocktail we made up was better.
Wow, wow, wow! My wife and I were blown away by this experience. Hands down, the best meal of my life. Every single bite was delicious and it was a wonderful atmosphere. Our Sushi Chef, Tianna, could not have given us a better experience. She was an absolute joy to be around and every recommendation she gave us was fantastic. We had great service from our waiter Tristan and can't wait to go back. I couldn't recommend this place more!

We were really excited to go to Uchiba tonight, but we were disappointed with the food. My daughter said, "I can honestly say I have felt more satisfied after taco bell" 😭 At one point both my husband and daughter looked at each other and said the rice tasted like HEB sushi rice. We liked our hand rolls, the salmon nigiri, and the tomato nigiri, but it wasn't really amazing when you think about the price. We ate a lot of different things tonight.
We went to Blue Fin on Brodie a fews ago and it was much better.
The server, although very nice, didn't even seem to like the food. The space is really nice and it's a shame, this could have been so much better. Photo of one of the things we didn't like. So in order we liked Uchi best, then Uchiko, and Uchiba is in last place. I won't even go into detail about how bad some things were because that would be mean.
My partner and I tried to order to holiday omakase at home set for take out. We were told on the phone that because we were using a gift card, we had to go order in person (even though the website said we needed to call with a gift card). We waited about an hour for the take out. The omakase at home showed the “Ichi”box(a $95 value), with karage, brussel sprouts, and a pint of ice cream included. What we got was more aligned with their “Kaiso” box(a $65 value). So instead of 12 pieces of nigiri and two rolls, we received 4 pieces of nigiri, two of which were very browned avocado, then 6 pieces of sashimi and a single roll.

This was my third time visiting an Uchi restaurant, and I have… mixed feelings about Uchiba.
Let me start with the good stuff—because when it comes to food, Uchi never misses. The pho dumplings are comforting and delicate in all the right ways, the kinoko skewers taste like they were airlifted straight from Japan, and the nigiri consistently hits that elusive balance of precision, freshness, and restraint that separates good sushi from great sushi. Even dessert surprised me: the tteokbokki is creative, unexpected, and absolutely worth trying. From a culinary standpoint, Uchiba delivers exactly what you’d expect from the brand.
That said… I can’t give it five stars, and the reason is simple: the service doesn’t match the price tag.
We were seated late despite having a reservation, and then placed at a table right next to the waiting lounge—which, honestly, shouldn’t exist as part of the dining room. It felt less “refined omakase energy” and more “airport gate C12.” We waited an oddly long time for our sake—as if it were traveling from Tokyo by boat—despite the food already being on the table. To top it off, dessert arrived with no spoons or chopsticks, which turned a carefully designed dish into an awkward staring contest.
For a restaurant where dinner runs around $300 per couple, those details matter. At that level, service shouldn’t feel like an afterthought.
Now, credit where it’s due: the atmosphere is fantastic. The furniture, decor, and overall design are absolutely worth experiencing. The wraparound bar is legit, the lighting is perfectly dialed in, and the space feels intentional, modern, and stylish without trying too hard.
Final verdict: Uchiba is a place I’d still recommend—for the food, the ambiance, and the overall experience. But until the service rises to the same level as the cuisine, it’s a very strong four stars, not five. Exceptional sushi deserves equally exceptional execution front to back.
