The food is amazing. We were celebrating our eighth year anniversary.I put in a reservation and made a note of it. As far as service, I feel it could have been better and more personalized for the price you pay for the food. Like an explanation of the menu, some recommendations, possibly
Also, the food was pretty slow coming out and we were sitting in front of the sushi prep.

What’s not to love? Great fish, great service. Don’t miss the 72 hour short rib bite (but wait until after you’ve had all the fish you can handle). Just wish the had espresso. Hint hint

Our fourth time here–where to begin?
Uchi Austin is the most wonderful dining experience my partner and I have ever experienced. Every time.
Valet parking makes arriving in your personal vehicle a breeze. A welcoming, modern, upscale–yet not intimidating–atmosphere stands out immediately when you walk through the front door. The staff are the piece of this establishment that shine throughout the entire experience. From the host stand to the wait staff, sushi chefs, and everyone else are kind, caring, thoughtful and exceptionally good at their jobs.
We tend to prefer the sushi bar–however, we sat outside on the patio this time. Omar waited on us, and he is incredible. From start to finish, he was fun to chat with, fantastic with his timing, and all around one of the best servers we’ve had the pleasure of dining with in Austin.
If you’re looking for the full experience, we recommend the chef’s tasting. There isn’t a dish on the menu that misses–everything is to die for. We’ve done the tasting every time, and we always find new and creative dishes that keep us coming back. This time, Omar asked what we enjoy the most before we started; toward the end of the meal, he provided two dishes that hit every mark we mentioned at the beginning and went above and beyond–uni on one side and butter poached snow crab topped with caviar. Absolutely amazing.
If you’re looking for a unique dining experience with a one-of-a-kind staff and a menu that will never disappoint, I highly recommend visiting Uchi.

We were settling into conversing with our waitperson regarding likes/dislikes when a party with two small children were seated right next to us. I have nothing against children, but when I am spending $$ for a meal, the last thing I want is to feel like I am at a McDonalds. I would also think that if you are spending $$ for a meal, you could afford to hire a sitter for the evening
We ended up switching tables and had a different server so we started over with likes/dislikes. We had the chef's tasting menu.
The service was attentive, but the restaraunt seemed dated and the food was uninspired. We have dined at Uchiko (the offshoot of Uchi) so we were a bit disappointed with the meal we were served. We will be going back to Uchiko in the future.
