On Monday I went to this place with my cousins, this place was mid. We sat down and we had to get up ourselves to order the food meanwhile another family sat down and somebody served them. After we ordered our food all my cousins ordered stews and I ordered fries keep in mind on the menu it was like yellow you know normal looking fries. So then after my cousins got their stews a good 40 minutes after but I still didn’t have my fries. So, then after my cousins finished their food I still didn’t have my fries they had told me they were almost done but like what takes so long for normal fries? Over an hour later I got my fries in a to go box like they already wanted me to leave, and I opened them tell me why they weren’t even the fries that were on the menu like whatttt… Overall it was clean, the food was okay, but I don’t know much about the service.

I wont lie, this was a bad experience for our first time trying African food of any sort. I went with 4 of my family members on Monday, December 29th. It was a very quiet place with music playing on a speaker near the register. A bunch of pictures and paintings decorate the wall, and some were noticeably AI generated. Getting to order, we paid up front at the register with separate checks for most of us. I paid over 65 dollars for a goat meat stew, a chicken stew and two drinks, including a tip. My cousin paid 9 dollars for a drink and some fries (this is important). We sat ourselves down at one of the big booths near the register and started to chat. We saw multiple people come and go while waiting for food, and they do have signs posted at every table that the wait for food would be around 35-45 minutes. We waited about 40 minutes for our food, which was 4 bowls of different stews and a side of fries. Yet, by the time that the food came out, there was no fries included. Each stew was the same soup base with different meats in each one, and somehow an equal amount of grease in each one. My stew was mostly bones. We ate for about 30 minutes and most of us did not finish the stews we ordered. And yet, the order of fries did not even show up until we were about to leave. Over an hour wait on just a side of fries is absolutely insane and we are chosing to not come back because of the lack of service given.

My son got a really bad stomach ache and had to go to the hospital and vomited in the bathroom and gagged while he was eating. The food was horrible and tasted way too salty and oily.I paid $50 and only got 4 ounces of meat and chicken. The rice was dry and very disgusting. The environment was dirty and disgusting, there was a cockroach in the corner laying eggs. The employees were giving me nasty looks and gave me attitude when I asked them for a bulk order containing 60 plates. It seemed like they didn’t want business.

My daughter has taken me to several African restaurants and I have left disappointed every time but decided to try Angie Winners Kitchen. We initially went because their information stated they had a buffet and with past experiences, I didn't want to spend a lot of money on food that isn't good so trying a buffet was my safe guard. Well we arrived to find out the buffet was no longer available because of the lack of space but decided to eat there anyway. Side note: The space is small but nice.
I am sooo glad we decided to stay! Omgoodness when I tell you the food is sooo flavorful and fresh. My daughter had the egusi with the fried chicken, red sauce and fufu. It was so delicious that we ordered extra fried chicken and red sauce to finish the egusi. Side note: Red sauce is addictive! I had the cassava leaves w/ fried chicken and fufu. This dish was 🔥! It had a light smoky flavor with some heat. My daughter and I enjoyed this dish so much! The food was so AMAZING that we talked about it even after we left. We will definitely go back!!!
Lastly, we had an opportunity to meet the chef. She is an amazing soul. Chef is a very sweet person who takes pride in her food. She also made sure to visit the tables of the customers to make sure everything was good.
