    Stopped in for some breakfast on a recent road trip. Ordering on the app always makes a McDonald’s visit easier. However, this McDonalds was not the visit we were expecting. We ordered a big breakfast meal with hotcakes, a sausage egg and cheese McMuffin, a peppermint hot chocolate (still on the app) and a large soft drink. They didn’t actually have the peppermint mocha, no big deal, a regular mocha is fine. But the breakfast didn’t come with anything else. No butter, no syrup, no jam for the biscuit, not even a fork. We also asked for a few ice waters and were promptly ignored. The other items we received were hot and fresh, but definitely check your order before leaving.

    My husband and I stopped in for a bite of lunch while traveling to Pigeon Forge. No one was working at the order counter, but there were several ladies working on getting boxed orders together and never even looked over to acknowledge that we were standing there ready to order. There were no other patrons in the lobby. After 10 minutes of waiting, my husband asked one of the ladies if anyone was taking orders. She looked at him, didn't answer and continued working on her "boxed orders." We finally left and went next door to Hardees, instead.

    It takes a while to figure out the menu system, but once you understand what's hidden under which labels it's pretty good. No more ketchup packs so you have to carry out cups of ketchup which is difficult if you're carrying bags of food and drinks. No more carriers for the drinks. The kitchen staff looks pretty grim.
