  This was my 1st time trying any soul food outside of my home. I’d give it a solid 8. Everything was seasoned well. The chicken just needed to be fired harder and the greens were overcooked. It gave a slimy texture but the flavor was on point. Loved they had options that didn’t contain pork. They were out of cornbread for the day but how at 12:30-1:00? Will revisit though.

  I ordered on Ubereats. I had 3 wings, yams, mac&cheese, and rice and gravy. I also ordered Gail’s sauce and cornbread. They called to tell me that didn’t have cornbread (👎) and replaced it for collard greens. I however received the Gail’s sauce. I didn’t enjoy the yams (lots of cinnamon flavor) everything else was really flavorful. I prefer my wings fried hard so I cooked them in my air fryer once they arrived. I’d visit in person! Thanks for a decent meal!

  Southern Cooking Done RIGHT at Gail’s Soul Food — Goose Creek, SC New guy in town looking for some real, signature Southern cooking. I needed a break from all that Texas BBQ and wanted some true soul food — the kind that feels like it came straight from someone’s grandmother’s kitchen. I started with Gail’s Soul Food, and let me tell you… I have zero regrets. Every bite was worth it. I showed up around 4:45 PM, just 15 minutes before closing. As soon as I walked in, the lady at the counter hit me with: “We ain’t frying nothing 10 minutes before we close.” No problem at all, ma’am — that line alone told me I was in the right place. I simply asked, “Alright then… what can I order?” I went with the smothered pork chops with rice and gravy, collard greens, green beans, and cabbage. BAM! Everything — and I mean everything — was excellent. The pork chops were tender, well-seasoned, with a nice touch of garlic and smothered perfectly in gravy. The collards were real collards, not canned (unlike too many places in Texas), and seasoned just right. The cabbage was flavorful, and the green beans were on point too. I also order a turkey wing smothered in gravy and it was also very tasty. The restaurant itself was clean, well-decorated, and welcoming. Even though they were about to close, the staff remained friendly, patient, and committed to giving me great service. That says a lot about their pride and professionalism. I truly enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, and the customer service. I’ll definitely be back to try a few more menu items before I head back to Texas. If you’re anywhere near Goose Creek and want real Southern comfort food done right, Gail’s Soul Food is a must-visit.

  I really dont leave reviews, but Gails Soulfood honestly deseres one. I went for my first time last night and it was amazing! The food isnt just good, its comfort! The fried chicken was golden and seasoned just right and the meatload was so full of flavor! The yams was sweet and the mac was creamy and rich! What really makes it special though is the warmth - everyone makes you feel so welcomed and they are so nice and attentive! And the price is so reasonable. I will be back today!!!

  We were in town visiting friends and decided to try this place. They had a large group come in and were working on getting their orders out. It’s understandable that would slow down the kitchen, but it would’ve been nice to be told an estimated wait time. We asked and were told they didn’t know how long it would be. Over an hour later, we still hadn’t gotten our food. Orders that were placed after us were walking out with their food. My fiancé went and checked at least 3 times and just kept getting told they were sorry it was taking so long. I ended up going in to check one last time and then just asking for a refund. It’s too bad we couldn’t actually have our food. Hopefully they find a way to avoid this type of experience moving forward.
