It all started with a promise and from there it was built on a vision. Gaetano Gravino was a hairstylist who had found part time work at a doughboy shack in Oakland Beach. This part time work turned into an opportunity that spoke to his entrepreneurial spirit – the same spirit that lives on in his wife and children: Sally, MaryAnn, David, and Guy. When the chance came to lease the establishment, Gaetano and his wife Sally took it. And in 1989, Iggy’s Doughboy and Chowder House was born – coined after a nickname given to him by his son, David. The featured dish at the time was the red chowder – the recipe a family secret created by Sally herself.

Drove 45 minutes because I heard this place was really good but honestly before even eating the cashier was extremely rude … I’ve worked in food service for over 8 years and that’s just not how you speak to anyone trying to spend money on your establishment … red lipstick older lady … not sure if she just doesn’t like her job or what but if she’s what you guys have to offer I’m all set and won’t be making the drive again .

Great food, especially the chowder. So close to the beach so you can enjoy a great day at the beach and a fantastic meal at your convenience. Be sure to get the Stuffies, aka stuffed quahogs.

This place is awesome!! I drove 45 minutes to eat here and it was worth the drive. I have a lobster roll it was beautiful and delicious. The girl In the window I think her name was Ava ? She was the best and her customer services was so good she was so nice to me and helped me when I didn’t have enough money to pay for my meal. She helped me pay out of pocket by giving me a 5 dollar bill, I gave her a hug. I plan on return to Iggy’s again to dine again and give the manager , Ava a nice gift for her kind act.

I had the clear rhode island clam chowder.I was always under the impression that clam chowder had clams in it.Ninety nine point nine percent potatoes. To be honest, I did find one piece of a clam, but very small.
