I think that might be from toasting the bread with butter. But, it will be the best vegan Reuben you’ve had. By the way, this place is vegan. They even have gluten free options. The customer service is always great. They are so friendly. They can get busy. It’s a small space and can get a bit overloaded with the smell of the cooked food. You might walk out smelling like it, as the ventilation doesn’t seem great. Take out is your best bet. Overall I Love this place. Go. Eat. Enjoy.

The latkes and knishes were also top-notch. I don't live in Portland, but now I know I'm gonna have to make a Ben & Esther's stop any trip I make to Portland in the future!
