My 5th time trying out this restaurant. Needed a somewhat last minute reservation for a NYE dinner. First off, and I’ve always known this, but once you get to the dining room, the restaurant has the appearance of a diner trying to fancy itself up. If you want a much better diner experience, go to Cap City at Bridge Park, and the food is way better at Cap City. I digress…the service was very, very slow, and they weren’t even that busy for NYE. The Hawaii Five-0 roll was not very good, not awful, but not worth even close to $23. I would be just as happy with a $10 roll from Kroger, or just go to an actual sushi restaurant if you want sushi. The ahi tuna tartare was actually decent, and you got a lot more bang for the buck for $1 less than the five-0 sushi roll. The house speciality ‘wood grilled salmon’ was pretty bad, was crazy dry and zero flavor. The side of couscous that it came with, again, just terrible. Just a rushed thought on this dish, awful pairing. The tortilla soup, Campbell’s chunky tortilla soup is definitely better. The carrot cake for dessert, some of the worst carrot cake I have ever had. All in all, don’t spend your money at this restaurant. I could have saved myself $150 (meaning, I would have spent $30 at Brassica…Hudson 29 bill was $180 for two with one ridiculously overpriced glass of Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc, and a Mocktail) and gone to Brassica down the road for better food. Also, VERY awkward when the server hands you a card reader with an automatic 20% tip selected, when she spent less than 10 full minutes actually helping you out, and couldn’t give a recommendation on anything. It was like she had never tasted anything on the menu.

We had a team Christmas lunch here in the private dining room. No complaints about the food. Service was very slow. With a group of 14, you'd think we would be her only table. Maybe she had other tables to take care of in addition to our large party or maybe she was hiding in the kitchen. Something took up most of her time. She would disappear for a long time. And since other servers delivered our food to the table, she only had to take our order and provide drinks & refills. Several of us had to eat our entire meal with no drink because she disappeared for 20-30 minutes at a time. She didn't check on us until most were done eating. We thought about flagging down another server and asking for refills but didn't want to cause a scene. We really enjoyed eating here in the past, which is why we came back again. Next team lunch we will go elsewhere. We may or may not return in the future. We'll see. Who knows how long that server will even be working there. She was nice and friendly, just didn't do a good job.

An Evening of Epicurean Elegance: A Review of Hudson 29
Stepping into Hudson 29 Kitchen + Drink in Upper Arlington is not merely a dinner reservation; it is an induction into a world of refined comfort and sophisticated Americana. From the moment we crossed the threshold, the atmosphere enveloped us in a serene, hushed luxury—a rare sanctuary where the lighting is as warm as the hospitality.
The Gastronomic Experience
The true centerpiece of the evening was the Prime Rib. Ordered medium-rare, it arrived as a masterclass in culinary precision. The exterior boasted a perfectly seasoned crust, yielding to a center that was exquisitely tender, succulent, and blushing with the ideal shade of rose. Each bite was a decadent journey of flavor, standing as a testament to the kitchen’s unwavering commitment to quality.
My companion’s selection was no less impressive. She indulged in a signature hamburger, which was prepared with such artistry that it elevated the classic dish to a gourmet height. Accompanied by a crisp, elegantly structured glass of wine, her meal was a harmonious symphony of textures and tastes that left her thoroughly delighted.
Service and Atmosphere
What truly distinguishes Hudson 29 is the seamless choreography of the staff. Our server was a paragon of professional grace—attentive without being intrusive, and exceptionally knowledgeable. They guided us through the menu with the expertise of a seasoned sommelier, ensuring every choice was tailored to our palates.
The environment itself struck the perfect chord of quiet intimacy. It is a space designed for meaningful conversation, where the "hustle and bustle" of the outside world fades into the background, replaced by plush surroundings and a sense of genuine ease.
