Me and my husband purchased a box of 6 cupcakes for $11 and a blueberry cheesecake for $9.25, totaling $20.25.
However, when we paid, the cashier named Natalie charged us $29.50, and she carelessly threw my cakes into the bag, causing all the blueberry sauce on the blueberry cheesecake to spill onto the sides of the box.
We didn’t notice the price mistake immediately, but after leaving the store, I asked my husband how much he had paid and realized something was wrong. (The total amount didn’t make sense), so I went back into the store right away to ask about it.
Natalie spent about three minutes checking the transaction and then called over another employee, a Black man wearing glasses, to correct the bill.
Before making the correction, he gave me a very dismissive and contemptuous look, as if I had inconvenienced him by pointing out their mistake. I tried to explain the situation, but Natalie interrupted me. These all made the whole experience very unpleasant.
After the correction was made, they simply handed me the receipt without saying a word.
No explanation, no apology, and no information about when the refund would be processed.
I want to remind anyone shopping here to carefully check the amount you are charged. This kind of basic error should not happen. The items I purchased totaled $20.25, yet I was charged $29.50—almost 50% more. If I hadn’t noticed, I would have significantly overpaid.
The way the staff handled this situation also made me feel very uncomfortable.
This store has many tourists every day, and many customers may not carefully check the amount they paid. If mistakes like this happen frequently, many people may never realize they were overcharged.

WHERE DID WE GO WRONG MAGNOLIA?!
I would like to acknowledge the young man that was possibly of Hispanic background, assisted me with exchanging the banana pudding I purchased for my son and myself. I truly appreciate his help and his pleasant, professional demeanor. The exchange could not have been handled more smoothly. If he is not currently a manager, he certainly should be While No one else stepped forward to assist. Instead, others remained in the background without offering timely or appropriate customer service. Or getting ready to make a mountain out of a molehill over some banana pudding. We are living in New York City, where people value efficiency. No one has time to be delayed unnecessarily. we all have places to go and responsibilities to attend to. Prior to coming in, I called to confirm whether an exchange would be possible. The young lady who answered the phone assured me that I could bring the banana pudding back to exchange it for a better version. Unfortunately, the pudding I originally purchased was overwhelmingly cream-heavy, with very few bananas and almost no cookies. I have been a customer of Magnolia Bakery particularly at this location for many years, longer than some of the current staff have been alive or have been employed at that location. The banana pudding recipe has clearly changed. It once contained a generous balance of bananas, cookies, and the perfect amount of cream, none of which overpowered the others. It also used to taste like someone gave a damn about what they were doing and made it with love but now it seems like they're just in a rush to produce and making it with The same nasty attitude that is displayed in person. Although I was given two smaller containers due to the unavailability of a larger size, the same issue remained. However, it was bearable because of how courteous and accommodating the young man was throughout the process. He deserves recognition, a raise, and consideration for a managerial role, as the current leadership did not demonstrate effective management or customer engagement during my visit. Overall, the staff could benefit from additional training in customer service. This includes the cashiers who were on their phones while I stood waiting with my child. My son is autistic, and I was nervous that he would start to yell and scream in frustration when the cashier was looking at his phone instead of attending to us. When my son is in Rockefeller Center, he looks forward to getting magnolia's banana pudding. I've been giving him banana pudding since he was in the womb.Anyway, A simple verbal greeting or clear direction, rather than hand gestures alone would have made a significant difference. I am not fluent in ASL, but fortunately, I was able to figure out that I needed to tap my device to pay, as no one verbally interacted with us. I would also like to mention another young lady who assisted by getting a cupcake for my son. She was sweet, pleasant, and attentive, and her kindness stood out. I hope to forward this feedback to corporate so that these two employees can be properly recognized. Their professionalism deserves to be highlighted, while the rest of the staff would benefit from an adjustment in attitude and customer service standards. I do not plan on returning to this location that I have diligently been a patron of, but I will visit other locations in hopes that the old recipe and customer service still thrives.
To be honest it be your own people that are ready to make a mountain out of a molehill instead of just holding each other down. Thank goodness for the other cultures that come to the rescue because it'd be your own people that are ready to make a life difficult when another culture can come in and save the day.Thank you to the sexy Hispanic Young Man and the yellow cupcake Hispanic young lady again. (Even though the cupcake was stale) Shout out to the young lady that could've possibly been of an Asian background that gave me a sample of the hot chocolate version of the banana pudding. You're a real one.
Thank you Kindly

I’ll be honest, I don’t care about pudding. In fact, I care even less about banana pudding. However, I got the banana pudding and it’s been three and a half hours and I want more. It’s whipped, there are small banana pieces in it (not a lot) and there’s a lady finger hanging out in the center of the whipped banana matrix, saturated along its edges. Think banana cream pie filling. It’s basically a deliciously creamy banana cream pie in a paper cup. Not too sweet either. Thank you Magnolia’s. I’ll be back for more next time.
