We have a member of our table who is gluten free - not by preference, to be clear. They refused to remove the pita from her meal, let alone substitute. When she asked if they could swap out for potatoes, the server said they couldn’t because “that would be too nice of a side.” Accommodations for preference are different than allergies, but apparently not at Jack’s Wife Freda. They were noticeably bothered by even the presence of an allergy. Strange for a city where nearly every other restaurant goes out of their way to note your allergies at the beginning of a meal and bend over backwards to accommodate. Gluten free shouldn’t be groundbreaking in 2026. Not to mention, we were seated on a backless bench in the middle of the restaurant with people tripping over us the entire meal.

Those fries were perfectly crisp, and the pasta was genuinely impressive. The service took everything to the next level. Chandler was so attentive, kind, and personable, even sharing a bit of the restaurant’s history with us, which made the visit feel extra special. The food runners were also incredibly sweet and helpful. Overall, just an amazing experience all around.
