I got the Khao Soi soup, which was very flavorful, however it felt like it was off balanced — It was a lot of meat (like half a chicken) and A LOT of the fried crunchy stuff on top… but very little noodle and no greens, which I felt like it desperately needed.

TLDR; the girl behind the coffee bar was rude and became frustrated at me because she couldn’t find my order in the system and couldn’t remember my order after asking me multiple times what my order was.
I ordered a latte and matcha online and after about 20 min, I went to ask if my drinks were ready (the bar and coffee had a couple of people during this time). The guy looked up my order and told me to come back in 3 min. I come back after 5 min, and they forgot about my order again. I tell the girl behind the coffee bar my exact order and she starts making it. She asks me 2 more times what my order is and becomes frustrated with me because she can’t find my order in the system. I offer to show her my order but she says no. She continued to be super annoyed, and it was so awkward and uncomfortable that the guy waiting next to me jokingly says to me that the girl will probably ask me again for my order. All this fuss from the girl and the matcha turned out super milky and the latte was mid.

Where Hope Goes to Die (but the Toilets Shine Bright)
We arrived with hearts full of hope and stomachs whispering sweet nothings about post-work delights. My wife and I both work nearby, and after fond memories of the Dumbo location (where BBQ dreams come true), we thought we’d found our new go-to. Spoiler alert: we had not.
First stop: Kebabwala. Two lamb seekh kebabs with mint chutney for $11.50. Thick? Yes. Decent? Sure. Memorable? Only in the way a lukewarm handshake is. The chutney was minty in the way that a polite nod is friendly. We nodded back and moved on.
Then came Patty Palace. This was the one we were most excited about, our consolation prize for never scoring a Tatiana reservation. My wife, a Caribbean queen with Flatbush credentials, asked the friendly server for a rec. “Beef patty,” he said, without hesitation. We should’ve hesitated.
It arrived in a pretty, shiny white box, the kind of box you’d expect to cradle a $10 trinket, not tragedy. It was hard to open, like it was guarding a secret we weren’t meant to discover. Inside sat the so-called “patty,” a brown mush that resembled pet food more than ground beef. There was also something they called coleslaw, but the only thing it shared with the real deal was the name. It had no seasoning, no tang, no life, just like the mush it accompanied.
A $15 patty that tasted like betrayal wrapped in coco bread. We didn’t even take a picture. It went straight to the trash, no ceremony. We sat in silence, chewing on disappointment, then looked at each other and said, “Maybe we don’t need to go to Tatiana after all.” That’s how bad it was. It cured us of curiosity.
Lori Jayne to the rescue (almost). Deep-fried oyster mushrooms with chimichurri and black garlic sauce? Delicious. Friendly service? The best of the night. We were briefly uplifted. So we dared to try the chicken sandwich. It was… Popeyes good. Not “come back for more” good. Not “tell your friends” good. Just “this’ll do” good. The sauce tried its best.
Ambiance? We went on a Monday evening. The place was emptier than a subway car at 3 a.m., and yet the wait times were long enough to age cheese. Maybe that’s the secret ingredient.
The real MVP? The bathrooms. Clean. Bright. A sanctuary in the storm. If I’m ever in the area and nature calls, I know where to go. For food? I’ll keep schlepping to Dumbo for that BBQ that still haunts my dreams.
Timeout Market 14th Street, you had one job. And you did it… in the restroom.

I stopped by Kam Rai Thai and tried their Hat Yai Fried Chicken and Northern Thai Sausage. The fried chicken was absolutely delicious — super crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, with that signature southern Thai flavor and a sprinkle of fried shallots on top. The sticky rice paired perfectly with the sweet chili sauce on the side.
The Northern Thai sausage was flavorful too fragrant herbs, lemongrass, and a nice spicy kick. It went really well with the red onion and herb salad that came with it.
The food presentation was clean and inviting, and the service was quick. You can really taste the authentic regional Thai touch in every bite. Definitely worth a visit if you’re craving real Thai comfort food in the middle of the city!

I miss this place since it closed recently and briefly so they can renovate into this new Time Out food court because it’s a great place to gather with friends and meet up. Even coming alone offers good people watching as some of NYC’s most beautiful women often come here.
However, ambiance changed quite a bit now. They painted interior black and lighting is dimmed so feels more like a dinner place during evenings. Before, it feels like lunch food court all day long which is not necessarily bad since I can see everyone more clearly.
Also gone are middle food stalls so there is less variety now which is a minus. It seems they opt for more seating rather than more food options.
And so, in terms of seating there is more now. They kept high chairs but there are also normal level table seating and booths. I don’t really like them because I can’t easily spot my friends now since they cud be hiding in booths and table seating. Also high tables do not have comfortable foot rests like they used to have. The old high table seating area was concentrated in one small area and so it was very easy to spot friends and acquaintances.
I haven’t tried all food options and just had pizza which is pretty good and close to authentic Naples style but it took them more than 15 minutes to make. Why does it take so long? I’m guessing oven is not hot enough because it took less than 5 minutes when I had pizza in Naples, Italy. Really needs improvement since this is still a food court and most patrons expecting fast service and not waiting 20 minutes for pizza.
Another minus is there is a guy coming around collecting empty trays which may be a plus for some but it’s annoying to me because I cud be in middle of conversation or texting or just day dreaming and suddenly I get, Excuse me, excuse me, are you finished? Nah, that’s one of nice things of coming here instead of sit down restaurant: No interruptions. There was never a guy in old place picking up empty trays when peeps are still sitting there and my tray wasn’t even empty as I clearly still sitting down drinking and eating!
Not hating, just not too impressed with new digs. I’m somewhat disappointed but will probably come back if my friends decide to as well.
