Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.
Numerous customers reported extremely long wait times, with some waiting over 40 minutes for their orders, and frequent order mistakes.
Food Quality
Many reviews mentioned cold, poorly prepared food, with complaints about the taste and freshness of burgers and fries.
Staff Attitude
While some staff were praised for their friendliness, others were criticized for being rude or unprofessional, leading to a negative dining experience.
Cleanliness

Mixed Experiences
Despite the negative feedback, a few customers had positive experiences, highlighting good service and tasty food, indicating potential for improvement.

I think the mystification and hype around Whataburger opening in North Carolina has gotten to the point where people are actively looking for things to criticize. I grew up in Texas, and this place hits all the marks for what it’s supposed to be: a fast food chain. I was greeted as soon as I walked in, my food was brought to my table promptly, and while there was a short wait, it was only because the cashier was juggling the register and taking care of trash, which she clearly communicated upon entry. Even then, the wait was no more than about seven minutes. Overall, a solid experience and a nice taste of home.

I've been to a lost of Whataburger's around the country, and this is by far the WORST I have ever been to! For a simple burger and chicken sandwich order, we waited almost half an hour and they weren't even busy! The person who brought the food said they would be right back to give us ketchup, and she never came back. The food was completely cold! In the time I was there, I never saw anyone come around giving out ketchup or other condiments, like this chain usually does. I even ordered a burger to go, and it took 25 minutes. There seemed to be no manager around at all. Absolutely not what I am used to going to a Whataburger! Top top it off, they have a training center in this building. Tried to do the qr code on the receipt to do a review there, but the website did not work.

Whataburger is the pride of Texas. I’ve been to many locations in Texas. The service is always friendly, the food is quick and accurate to my order, the tea is always freshly brewed, and the facility is pretty clean by fast food standards.
The Mooresville, NC location is the antithesis of that. The first time I went, they forgot to make my order entirely. My friend received his order and ate all of his food, while I sat for half an hour wondering what was taking so long. The second time I went, I ordered a double meat Whataburger, add cheese and jalapeño (both additional charges). Both items were missing from my burger. I went up to the counter, which was unmanned, and had to wait several minutes before an employee came back out of the kitchen to address my request. My third visit was around 11 pm. I placed an order on the app ahead of time. When I arrived at the store, there was only one other customer there waiting for food they had already ordered. I then proceeded to wait twenty minutes in an empty restaurant for my food to be made, again with the counter unmanned, and watched employees in the kitchen standing around doing nothing, some of whom were literally leaned against the wall just chatting with each other. As I waited, I paid a visit to the restroom where I was met with a toilet clogged with paper and an empty paper towel dispenser - again in an empty restaurant with employees standing around doing nothing. At least they got my order right this time…
I’m not usually one to leave a bad review, I’ve worked in food service and I understand that it can be a high pressure environment. Sometimes you have an off day, sometimes mistakes are made. I get it. But when you have issues every single time you visit a location, you have to question whether the issue lies more with the overall management of the restaurant.

I give this place two stars because of my experience with curbside ordering. I ordered a jalapeno and cheese burger with medium fries and Cherry Coke. On the app it specifically said drive-thru was not available until 10:00 p.m. And I did not want to go inside so I chose curbside and it said my order would be ready between 3:06 p.m. to 3:09 p.m. I got there right at 3:06 and parked in space number 3. I checked in on the app and put that I was parked in herbside space number 3. I sat in my car for about 15 minutes and had not received my food and decided to check online to make sure that curbside meant they were bringing it out to me. They were a little busy through the drive-thru so I weigh an extra 5 minutes and after 20 minutes of waiting I decided to go inside and check on my food. When I initially walked up to the counter nobody was there and I had to wait a few minutes for somebody to come to the counter and I explained to them. I have been sitting in my car for 20 minutes at the curbside parking space checked in on the app and nobody had brought my food out to me. Could they check and see what was going on with my order. And the girl was very nice and was like okay. I'll check what was your name so I gave her my name and she went back to where they prepped the food and was in there for a few minutes and then came back out and initially said oh there was to been an issue with the order because we don't see it in our system so it must have just been a glitch or something and did not come through to us. So I said okay. Can you just remake my order because I have not received it and it's been over 20 minutes at this point and she was like okay sure so she went back to where they were prepping food and a another associate came out and he informed me that what had happened is that somebody came through the drive-thru and gave them my name so they gave my order to that man and it had been cleared out of their system because they had gave it away to the wrong person. So they had to remake my order and they took a picture of my order with the order number and all the details of my order on one of their personal cell phones and went back and made the order and I got my food and was able to eat it about 30 minutes after. I had initially placed the order. But doesn't make sense to me though. Is that? Yes it is busy when I got there but they should have been keeping an eye on the curbside considering the parking space for curbside was spacing to the front end door and should have been keeping track of people who was was coming into that space to know that they need to start prepping the food. Also, it doesn't make any sense to me that they said they were able to give away my food to somebody else who was a man and I have a female name very clearly female not unisex name and they gave it to that man at the drive-thru. Even though on the app when I placed the order it told me that drive-thru was not available until 10:00 p.m. So how were they able to give my food away to Marty who did not have my name and give it to them at the drive-thru whenever they drive-thru is not option when I place that order is beyond me. So overall I waited over 30 minutes to get my food. When they gave me my food it was the correct order and they include a free apple pie for the in trouble that I had and they apologized for the issues. But this is supposed to be a fast food restaurant, not a slow food place or a restaurant where you sit down and expect a 20 to 30 minute wait for your food. The food itself was warm. It was not hot. The fries were okay but in my opinion could have used more salt and the burger was thin. Almost like a smashburger thickness of the patty and it was very mustard heavy even though I had just asked for regular mustard on the burger in the app. Drink that I ordered was a Cherry Coke and it tasted nothing like a cherry Coke. The carbonation was off or something because it almost tasted sour. So for me wasting almost $12 and waiting 30 minutes for my fast food does not impress me and I will not be coming back here.

Not only did they bring us someone's else 2 times food bc they gave multiple people the same number they straight ignored us when trying to get it fixed. When question why we didnt get the correct food the manager suggestion was to do the order over and make us pay again bc she brought someone's else order and wanted to argue that she didnt until showing the receipt that mysteriously disappeared when she took it and never received back. We have been to MANY Whataburger across the US and this was by far the wrong experience. Wouldn't be so bad if they were so busy I would understand but they were not and everyone was EXTREMELY RUDE. We never got the right food and took a loss and went somewhere else bc the manager wanted to argue and not give a crap. The restaurant is also the nastiest Whataburger we have ever been to! Your employees would just throw the blue gloves down everywhere, trash overflowing and Bathroom and so nasty they was usable. For it to only be open a few months this place already sucks and Whataburger is our favorite but definitely will not be back to this one!
Edit to add they also took the wrong order back and did not throw it away. They rewrapped it and gave it to the correct people after my kids had touched it and noticed it was not correct! They is so gross especially with sickness going around!
