Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.
Customers consistently reported extremely slow service, particularly in the drive-thru, with many waiting over 20 minutes for their orders.
Food Quality
The quality of food received mixed reviews; while some enjoyed the burgers and fries, many complained about cold, dry, or poorly prepared items.
Customer Service
While some staff members received praise for their friendliness and helpfulness, others were criticized for poor service and lack of urgency.
Cleanliness
Several reviews mentioned unsanitary conditions in the restaurant, including dirty tables and bathrooms.
Overall Experience
Many customers expressed disappointment with their experiences, citing long wait times and unsatisfactory food, leading to a general lack of recommendation for the location.

Waited about an hour and a half maybe a little longer. For less than mediocre food, burgers are gross, fries are fine but I do like there milk shakes but it wasn't enough to make up for everything else.. I'm not sure what was happening or why it was taking so long, they were a little busy but not enough for it to be almost TWO hr wait! There was only about 6 cars ahead of us.. and I thought it was supposed to be FAST food. I do not recommend going there. Go to McDonald's, it's probably faster, cheeper, and better over all. <3

Grew up in Texas and love Whataburger!
When this location first opened we spent 40 minutes in line and when we questioned were told.by the manager to "drop our attitudes"
So we waited 4 months and tried again.
Tonight I had to repeat my order (single with cheese only and large fries) 4 times. When I said "no drink please" I noticed the price didn't change (still the combo price) and was told not getting a drink doesnt make the combo cheaper?
Whatever, took the drink and food home.
Plain hamburger, kid sized fries, no condiments.
Drink flat.
Come on Whataburger, this is pitiful.

Went here around 9:40 pm on Saturday, there were two drive thru lanes. The first one we were in, two cars were in front of us; the car at the ordering board was just sitting there not ordering / saying anything for like 10 mins, so we decided to go into the other drive thru lane. Mind you, two other cars had ordered and moved to the window from the second lane before we moved over into it. Once we got into the second lane, nothing was said to us at all. Instead, now someone was taking the car sitting in the first lanes order and we sat in the second lane, in silence, for another 10 mins. We ultimately decided to just pull up to the window and tell them our orders and let them know that no one serviced us at all in the second lane.
The employee claimed that she was saying “hello” the whole time as if we were ignoring her, but there was literally no sound come from the ordering board speaker at all!
After we place our order at the pick up window, we were told to go park on the side of the building where we waited almost 30 mins! We went inside to check on our order status and learned that no one had fixed our order at all??? Once we did finally get our food, yes it was freshly made and hot, but I had no appetite for it at all anymore. Service was HORRIBLE!
My overall rate of experience : 0/10

Whataburger used to be one of my favorite fast food restaurants. Since we moved to NC they never had whataburger up here, so I was excited to see the one being built in Gastonia.
We have been 5 times since they opened and everytime is more and more disappointing.
This last trip tonight was by far the worst visit to date. My wife and I arrived at 5:35pm, put in our order at about 5:40pm. Ordered 2 bacon whataburger combos with ketchup , mayo, and pickles. There were about 5 people in front of us in the left lane and about the same in the right lane.
We ended up waiting almost 45 mins for food. Since the lanes are grid locked, you can't get out once you're in line. To top it all off they messed up the order, gave us cold under cooked fries, burgers were wrong, the only thing correct was the drinks.
I understand being a new team, there will be some growing pains as everyone is learning the job and positions ect. But really 45 mins for a burger. I could've cooked my burger on a stick over a candle faster than that. Whataburger you have got to do better.
The lady at the window was quite nice and apologized for the wait, which it wasn't her fault, but truly a disappointing visit.
I probably wont be back. Maybe with time they will get it. Take some notes from chick fila on how a drive through line should work.

Good L-rd! - What a disappointment. Very crowded with an eclectic audience who I all suppose were let down by the performance. Burgers were incredibly greasy and just a let down. I made a special trip to this Gastonia location. The Gal serving the orders to the tables was the best part of my visit. I visited Saturday early evening – 27 December 2025. A Tractor Trailer was blocking a significant amount of the parking – which made things stressful. Vibe inside the restaurant was cheerful, but – I can’t help but feel cramped at the entrance where you order from the kiosk. French Fries were an abomination. Food came out quick; I enjoy the Texas Toast Option and the Double Toast is cute. Otherwise – disappointing. D- Grade! I need to mention, the Men’s Toilet was flooded and there was a young employee inside the Toilet spaced out and texting on his phone. Dude was standing in the middle taking up space. It was strange!
