The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations. Cadillac, Michigan, is not the first place one looks for the soul of the Punjab, yet at Indian Spice, one finds a truth that rocks the very foundations of expectation. I walked into the establishment with a sneer prepared for the "buffet"—that pedestrian concept of quantity over quality. I expected the steam trays to be a graveyard of dried meats and muted spices. I was wrong. With the first bite of the Butter Chicken, I was no longer a grim man at a table in Northern Michigan. I was a child again, mesmerized by the scent of a kitchen where spices weren't just ingredients, but a language. The sauce was a velvet shroud, rich and unapologetic, clinging to chicken so tender it surrendered at the mere suggestion of a fork. The Dal Tadka spoke of patience—a slow, rhythmic simmering that cannot be faked. And the Naan? It arrived at the table not as a mere side, but as a warm, pillowy revelation, blistered perfectly by the tandoor's breath. One might say the spice levels are tempered for the masses, but that is a simplistic view. The flavors here do not scream; they sing. They are layered, complex, and deeply rooted in a tradition that demands respect. As for the architect of this feast: my hat is off to the chef. It takes a rare courage to present such honest, soul-stirring food in a land so far from its origin. You have not merely cooked a meal; you have transported a soul. Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere. Indian Spice has provided me with something I haven't felt in a very long time: a sense of wonder. I will be returning. To do otherwise would be a crime against my own palate. ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

Went for the Christmas buffet and was underwhelmed. While flavorful, everything wasn’t hot. Lukewarm across the board. We drive 90 minutes from Northport and were very excited because we are big fans of NJ’s and they are associated with Indian Spice. The place also felt like a cafeteria and needed to be spritzed up. I bet if we had ordered from the menu, the experience would have been better.

We are so happy Dave took over this place, the service and food has improved so much. Our kids don't eat Indian food, and Dave arranged chicken nuggets and fries for our kids, you wouldn't find that in other Indian restaurants.

We're from out of town and love Indian food, so we were excited to try this spot. The decor is simple, but the flavors are wonderful. A very large menu selection and it was hard to decide. We ordered a variety of dishes and each one was lovely, lots of flavor, and good portion sizes. It was quiet there so service was fast and we received our food quickly. We had chai and mango lassi, Rogan Josh, dosa, garlic naan, Tikka masala and butter chicken, biryani, and chettinand chicken, chana masala. They asked the spice level and mild was great for our family members and the medium was perfect for us who liked some heat. We'd be happy to go back and eat there again!

We want this place to stick around town! It's my favorite place to grab dinner in Cadillac. I had the lamb korma this time; it's so comforting and delicious, and it never feels too heavy. The owner is very knowledgeable and personable. I usually do takeout (although they do deliver), and they are professional and prompt. They have a convenient app, too.
