    Horrific. So, we came here out of convenience and under a time limit for an appointment elsewhere. Thought it would be a quick in and out but no. Oh no. Produce was sparse and most of it looked gross and not the slightest fresh. Broccoli was very brown on the stems and clearly been sitting there/in the back for a while. The self checkout zone is abysmal. The layout itself is cramped and small. Due to the poor layout, everyone gets stuck and traffic jammed.. The carts have nowhere to go, people can’t get by. It should be designated ‘basket only’. The buggy outdated software the self checkouts run on is astonishingly bad. I saw one closed down self checkout (and the one I used should absolutely be closed down too) As soon as we scanned bananas it told us we needed help from a staff member? For bananas?! Then another thing and another thing, almost everything flagged up as ‘needing assistance’ when all we did was scan the item. The two staff members at the self checkout counter were completely unaware and didn’t really care, which I get, it’s a horrible job in a horrible place, this isn’t to hate on them. The frequent issues of the self checkout malfunctioning, the extremely loud beeping of the scanner that was ear piercing and the lack of attention from staff all mounted on top of itself into feeling completely overwhelmed and needing to lay down afterwards with a headache. The photos from 3 years ago look so good and maybe it was. But it’s now clearly declining and needs to just stop. Don’t go here, even for convenience. It’s more convenient to go through a trash can and eat dinner with a raccoon than it is to shop here.

    My aunt lives down the street on California St so I’ve been to this stop & shop many times, I especially love it because of the great savings and deals they have especially on cereal. But after 3 bad experiences, I’ve had enough, I’ve tried to give grace but every time I do self check out and the African American self check out employee is there I have a horrible experience. Today, I accidentally scanned a cereal box one extra time, and all I ask is for her to simply cancel that one/take it off. She then looks in my cart to count and looks at the screen all confused and looks at me as if I’m trying to steal/rob the place (I have a Harvard jacket on as I’m a student there lol.) and then instead of doing what any other grocery staff would have done, she decides to print out the receipt and make me go to customer service and pay for it instead of just cancelling ONE ITEM. Thus wasting 10 minutes of my time, and the service employee didn’t even look at my cart or anything. I would have been better off and quicker if I just went to a new machine and rescanned everything and checked out. Don’t even get me started on my other two experiences with her, she is so rude, lazy, unprofessional, disrespectful and treats people as if they are trying to steal, it is not that difficult to see that there is one more item on the screen than my cart. Absolutely tired of it, at the very least move her somewhere else that doesn’t involve interacting with customers seriously.

    This store really needs to be renovated. Items are often out of stock. Several times I have found expired food on the shelves.
