Wir haben nacheinander verschiedene Getränke aus dem Automatensystem probiert – Cola, Fanta, Sprite, Dr. Pepper – und alle schmeckten extrem chemisch und völlig ungenießbar, als wäre etwas nicht in Ordnung. So etwas haben wir als deutsche Gäste, die hohe Hygienestandards gewohnt sind, in den USA noch nie erlebt. Als wir das Personal darauf angesprochen haben, wurde lediglich gesagt, dass „irgendetwas mit dem Automaten“ nicht stimmen könne und wir etwas anderes probieren sollten. Doch alle Getränke waren gleichermaßen betroffen, weshalb wir ernsthaft besorgt waren. Diese Erfahrung war für uns ein vollkommener Schock und wir empfanden die Situation als potenziell gesundheitsgefährdend. Eine Überprüfung des Getränkesystems durch das zuständige Gesundheitsamt wäre unserer Meinung nach dringend angebracht.
