Yo as a Muslim in Chicago this is the ONLY jerk place I know of with Halal chicken aaannnd its on the 9!(79th) right off Cicero. We eat here almost monthly. We've used them to cater large events in the past and is blown away everytime. My 5 star review comes with humility and resolution. The brotha was gracious and kind enough to resolve an issue with us in a way that has made me a CUSTOMER FOR LIFE. I pray that ALLAH guide them and cover them with HIS Mercy and protect them from harm and evil. Ameen. . . .#Letsgit'it

On December 19, 2025, I was at this restaurant purchasing a 3 piece jerk catfish order, with bread and a side dish of yams. When I placed my order, I told the cashier that I did not want the thin cuts of fish, he said ok. When I got my order, I was given the thin cuts of fish… 4 little thin slices of fish😵‍💫. I asked for my money back which the cashier supposedly issued me a return receipt which I have not received $ back yet… it’s been almost a week and still no return of my money. The cook wanted to augrue with me stating that he cooked it already and I can’t get my money back….What they are doing is scamming the customers. Apparently, they are taking on piece of fish and horizontally slicing it down into two or three pieces….so when you order any catfish orders, you’re actually getting one and a half pieces of fish but they are charging you for three or more. It’s a scam! Now I’ve never complained to the Board of Health on them about the numerous times I found hair in their Red Beans and Rice dish.. I just stopped eating there… bottom line… this is not a honest establishment, they are all about making money while skimping on your food orders. I’m still working on getting my refund back. Buyer beware, you have been warned😳.

I just called to place an order for pick up and the first time they picked up the hung up, so I called back thinking. Maybe it was an accident, so I called back to place an order for pick up for my daughter, and the lady that answered. The phone said we’re close. I said, but you don’t close till 10. She said we are clothes for the night. I said you’re kind of rude. I asked her if she was a manager and she hung up on me. Management needs to get better at who they hire all the reason why we were going to order from here is because my daughter has had the fettuccine from here before and they said it was good. Very disappointed. Was gonna be my first time. Tried it. I guess not. You’re really need to fire. The young lady that answered the phone. Your business will be going down from here.

Where do I even start with St. Bess Jerk Chicken in Burbank, Illinois? First off, watching the staff handle food with absolutely zero gloves was like witnessing a live demonstration of how not to run a restaurant. I’m all for casual vibes, but when your raw chicken touches the same surfaces as the cooked sides, “authentic” stops being a selling point and becomes “biohazard.” I swear I saw someone sneeze over the counter and then pick up a drumstick. Cross-contamination? Oh, it’s not just a theory here—it’s a lifestyle. The chicken itself was overcooked, dry, and seasoned in a way that made me question whether they were trying to kill taste buds along with germs. The rice and beans? Sad, limp, and clearly just an afterthought. I left feeling like I had narrowly escaped a health violation rather than enjoyed a meal. If you’re into adrenaline-pumping food experiences and playing microbial roulette, maybe check it out. Otherwise, run far, far away.
