Stopped in for a sale they had on Picanha, got to speak alot with the staff and I can say this is one of the friendliest butcher shops I've been to. Before even speaking with anyone there, when I walked in the first thing I noticed was how CLEAN the place is. Great cuts, great prices, great weekly deals, & great people. I've just found my new go-to... Thanks Southern Steer!

Since I moved to the area I have been trying to find a butcher shop that reminds me of back home in MN. This place is legit! I am very very picky about my meat selection. I prefer to cook my own rather than eat out especially for steak. Every time I go in I have amazing service, everyone is very kind and attentive as well as knowledgeable! They will go out of their way to make sure you are getting what you want and are satisfied. There are two gentlemen that are truly extraordinary but I forgot their names. I will update later. As for products, I recommend all their items but I am extremely happy with their quality of beef. You may baulk at the higher price than a grocery store but you pay for QUALITY as well as the cut/processing you get and it’s absolutely worth it. I am a ribeye guy, bone-in prime all day. With that too, all of their burger is spectacular. Their sausages are good, I am just used to different texture but great taste/flavor and quality. Their pork and bacon is probably my third favorite. I love their sizes of chicken breasts and variety of marinades. I’m just not the biggest marinade person so I cannot rate appropriately but they do come out very tender if cooked properly. One of the great guys steered (ha ha) me to using beef tallow for pan cooking my steaks since grilling is a pain where I live. Honestly I don’t think I’ll go back to oil/butter. You can add those after you get the awesome sear with that tallow. They sell small containers in the freezer. Keep it frozen and cut/shave out as much as you want each time. Thank you for having such a great establishment and workers to remind me of home!

Went here today. Looking for filet Mignon for the three of us. Not available. Now it's all Wagyu beef and instead of 30 bucks a pound its 60 bucks a pound. When I grew up, we looked for lean beef. I guess today we have gone back to fatty beef, marble we call it, and the marketing craze has doubled the price. The tenderloins were great just the way they were. Really need no wagyu. The lady tells me it's wagyu from Australia, very special. BS If all i can buy here is wagyu hype, i'll buy somewhere else.

I loved the marinated steak tips. I went in every Tuesday for the 20% discount on them on Tuesdays and I generally buy other meats as well, I was very disappointed to find an increase of $3.00 per pound between 10/28/25 & 11/4/25. Unfortunately as good as the meats are I feel that kind of increase in one week is in unreasonable. I will no longer be able to be a patron at your store.
