I have NEVER been treated so poorly by such a lazy employee as I did this Tuesday Dec 2nd by the larger gentleman working on staff that day. This was the same gentleman who belittled and bashed another Mom and Pop meat market during our verbal exchange the first time we visited Southern Steer and then proceeded to give me the absolute worst service imaginable this past week. When I asked for 10lbs of chicken breast (as I do every week) he walked to the back and slapped an unopened bag of mountaire chicken up on the counter. Sopping in chicken juice and completely untended to. If I wanted to grab a bag of chicken off the shelf like this I wouldn’t go to a butcher. I was confused because normally they pull it from the window and wrap them up nicely (I usually ask for 3-4lbs per bag so it divides up easier when cooking and storing). When I asked about this he scoffed and told me he could give me some butcher paper so I could do it myself at home. The absolute laziness and lack of desire to help the customer was beyond me. I should not be going home to rinse, trim, wrap and vacuum seal my cuts of meat from the butcher. To top it off the same employee decides to give me one grocery bag for 10lbs of chicken, 2.5 lbs of steak tips, and 6oz of beef jerky. All in the same bag, with no regard for any cross contamination or even consideration of 14lbs of meat in one bag that may rip. I’m not sure if this will be my butcher anymore. I was sold on the place until this happened. I would rather pay a little extra to not leave completely pissed off. Plus now I know to just look for mountaire black label chicken in a bag since thats what I am getting overcharged for here. Disappointing to say the least.
