  I met a friend here for happy hour and we got the mushroom tacos, Brussel sprouts and passion fruit margarita. All were delicious and we sat at the bar, the bartender was very friendly and the decor of this restaurant is beautiful! Their happy hour deals are pretty good for the area.

  Love this newish Mexican restaurant on Capitol Hill! The food is delicious!! The margheritas are generous and tasty. The tortillas are authentic, the sauces are tasty and spicy as publicized. My Texan SIL said the beans were really good. Note that the burritos are not on the dinner menu but available online and the chef will make you one if you wish. Lovely and fun atmosphere and bar.

  Food was delicious but portions were a bit smaller than expected for price, particularly with the small plates. The only dish that was not great was the steak which was a bit tough. Drinks were very good. The restaurant was mostly empty and service/food was a little slower than anticipated.

  We were disappointed with this place. We ordered some tacos and our server asked us “would you like beans and rice?”, we said yes to beans, but the surprise came with the check… we didn’t know that was additional and they charged us $16 for 2 sides of beans as large as 2 spoonful. All food tasted too spicy, but I’m not rating based on that as you expect Mexican food to be spicy, even though we asked and were told it wasn’t spicy. Even the additional order we specifically asked “no spicy at all” for my little son was spicy. The $25 guacamole trio was so small that I couldn’t believe that was all (size of 1 small avocado max). Additionally, they included a 3% “merchant fee” without even a warning… They should have told us about all the additional charges. The place is kind of nice, but it’s WAY too expensive for the food they serve.

  I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but what happened at Paraiso – Mexican Restaurant Taqueria & Mezcaleria was unacceptable and needs to be shared. I’ve been a loyal customer for years—dining in more than ten times and ordering through DoorDash countless times. My friends and family have supported this restaurant regularly, which makes this experience even more disappointing. During my most recent visit, I took my leftover tacos home. When I went to finish them, I bit into a metal bolt hidden inside one of the tacos. The impact cracked the side of my tooth, causing immediate pain and leaving me with a significant dental injury. I now have a substantial dental bill as a direct result of this, which is incredibly frustrating and stressful especially considering it came from something as simple as eating dinner. I will be attaching photos for anyone who wants to see exactly what I found. While accidents can happen, the way the restaurant handled the situation is what truly shocked me. It took several days for them to respond to my email, and when they finally did, there was no apology, no concern for my wellbeing, and no responsibility taken. Instead, they denied any possibility that this could have happened in their kitchen something I would never fabricate. As someone who has supported this restaurant many times, the lack of care and accountability was extremely hurtful. Beyond my personal injury, this incident raises serious concerns about food safety, cleanliness, and quality control. I’m sharing my experience so others can be aware and cautious. A metal bolt should never be in anyone’s meal, and no customer should have to deal with physical injury or expensive dental work because of it. Until the owners take responsibility and make real improvements, I cannot recommend this place to anyone.
