El Lucero is a hidden gem. The food is outstanding — I had the carne asada plate, and honestly, I’ve paid double for the same dish at “fancy” restaurants with much lower quality. This place proves that great food doesn’t need a fancy ambiance. Don’t let the simple setting fool you — the quality and flavor speak for themselves. What really sets El Lucero apart is the owner, who is also the head chef. He personally comes to the table to make sure everything is perfect, which shows how much pride and care he puts into his food and customers. I’ll take amazing food and genuine hospitality over a trendy atmosphere any day. Highly recommend!

Needless to say that their pupusas are delicious. My favorites are the pork and the cheese with loroco. If you’ve never had an El Salvadoran tamale, try their chicken tamale. They’re softer in texture than traditional Mexican tamales and wrapped in a banana leaf and this place makes them as authentic as can be and they are delicious. So glad this place is close by.

Absolutely the best hole in the wall El Salvadoran food. Tastes like homemade and the owner is always so friendly. Maria is the sweetest!

The food is freshly made but takes a bit of time as with any freshly made food! The owners were very welcoming and the ambience casual! The papusas are worth repeat visits!
