Uchi made our anniversary memorable. The atmosphere was good, the food was amazing, cocktails were great, and overall service was thoughtful. We ordered the omakase which was 10 courses and each dish was very impressive.
Our sushi chef made great conversation and had excellent recommendations. Everything tasted fresh. Just nothing to really critique.
Well that was the most underwhelming service and experience.
The valet guy was the best service we had all night.
We came for my husband's birthday and when I made the reservation I mentioned it and not once was it acknowledged. We started with a glass of wine and beer and that took 30 minutes to make its way out. Then we did the 10 course omakase and they brought everything so fast. We weren't even finished before the next course came. At the end, they only brought 7 out of the 10 courses and they brought 2 of the same. I mentioned it to our server before we even touched it and he said oh sorry and that was it? Didn't even bring a different course. It was disappointing to pay what we did for the experience we had. The food was fine. The service was a huge miss.

Short story, if you will be in the Denver area, make a reservation for omakase, or drop through for happy hour.
While all elements of the experience were strong, and generally in line for the price point, the most noteworthy element of our evening was Tiffany, our server. Her experience with the menu, with serving, and with communication was standout. In spite of the kitchen and the bar both being busy, she took time at servings in between courses, which I expect for fine dining. Her bonhomie was genuine and disarming. Tiffany went the extra mile to make our dinner party feel met, and special.
The ambiance was clean, a touch industrial, and had appropriate cultural nods. It was a touch dark to read the menu, but that seems common these days. Just a bit more light, would help patrons enjoy the plating more. It was loud, but conversation was doable.
The cuisine was well inspired, appropriately coursed, and for the most part, very well plated. Stand outs were the emperor fish nigiri, the sashimi in general, lobster miso, and a tapioca parfait that for me, was the winner of the night. The sake was excellent, and reasonably paired. The cocktails met expectations.
I enjoyed my experience here more than at their Austin location, which is also worth visiting.
I look forward to returning to both.

Our experience was a bit of a mixed bag. Some aspects were phenomenal, and some were OK. My partner and I did the omakase which came out to $150+ pp. We were seated at the sushi bar.
The good:
- Among the lineup for omakase were some serious heavy-hitters. The lobster miso was to die for. Surprisingly the mapo tofu was a favorite. I’ll daydream about the hamachi maki. My partner was drooling over the wagyu coulette.
- Zander, who was serving us at the sushi bar, was spectacular. He snuck in a few complimentary dishes which we so appreciated. My partner was gawking at one roll Zander was making for someone else, and later in the meal he surprised us with one on the house. He truly redeemed the experience in spite of some overall service issues detailed below. If I graded the service just based on Zander, it would be 5 stars.
- We left so full, I swear I was still full the next morning. And we can eat! So no issues with the quantity of food. If you do the omakase you’ll leave satisfied.
- Everything was clearly of high quality, and you could taste it.
- With the omakase you get a little gift bag with some goodies, which was quite the thrill.
The not-so-good:
- The pace of bringing out dishes was extremely slow, especially the first ~3 rounds. We were excited to splurge on this fancy dinner (and hungry). After ordering a drink, it took 15-20 mins before we got course #1. I was sipping my wine so slowly, hoping to drink it with some food. The next 2 courses came out at a similar snail pace. We debriefed later that after the first long-awaited course was a single oyster each, and we didn’t see another dish for 10-15 more mins, we both almost proposed giving up and going to get a burger. To boot, there was no real explanation or acknowledgement that it even was slow, let alone why.
- A few of the dishes were just OK. Nothing was bad, and many were spectacular (see above) but again for the price I might’ve hoped for a more mouth-watering lineup top to bottom. Sitting at the sushi bar, we watched so many incredibly decadent and spectacular looking dishes get prepared and sent off to other tables, which gave us a few minor moments of disappointment.
Would I go again? Maybe, but I’d probably stick to a la carte and get a few highly reviewed dishes. Or, I’d do the somakase (sp?) where you give the server some parameters and they craft your list of dishes.
Feedback:
Once we started getting dishes from the sushi bar, they came at a great pace. Maybe start the omakase with a few sushi dishes and then have some kitchen ones to lessen the waiting pains. Or, communicate to people that they should expect some wait up front while they prep the first few.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I went to Uchi on November 4th for a really special dinner — my last night out before starting chemotherapy, and my last chance to have sushi for a while. From the moment we sat down, our server Henry and the entire team made the evening feel so special. They went above and beyond to make it memorable, and it truly touched my heart.
What could have been a hard night turned into an amazing evening at a beautiful restaurant with the most incredible food and even better service. It was truly a night I’ll never forget. I can’t wait to come back in six months to celebrate the end of chemo with everyone at Uchi again!
