I started to put my groceries on the belt but then paused and looked around, and since the only employee around was busy with the candy displays I thought maybe I should wait to put the rest of groceries on in case I might have to go somewhere else where there was an actual employee to scan my groceries. My daughter was getting drinks at the Starbucks and as she walked over to me I said something like "I don't know if this is the lane I am supposed to be in" and the employee who was preoccupied with the candy display said to me "the self check registers were just booting up" . I was confused, like did she want me to move back over there, so I asked if someone could ring me up in the asile I was in. She replied very snooty like and asked me if I was done loading my groceries yet, because she was responsible for other things and she couldn't just stand there. She said this as a line was forming behind me. It was embarrassing and rude. Because of the line I put all my groceries on the belt and she begrudgingly rang up my groceries while muttering under her breath. Please tell me, Safeway managers what I did wrong here? If you are a cashier, isn't your job to ring up groceries? She said she could not just stand there waiting for me to unload my groceries. But couldn't she start to ring my groceries up as I unloaded them? Why do all my groceries have to be unloaded for her to start ringing them up? I had no choice but to use her lane. It was the only lane open. Probably not coming back here.
