I came to the deli once at 745pm and yesterday I came in at 730pm to get some lunch meat and the younger gentleman behind the counter told me “We stopped slicing meats!” If the deli closes at 8pm or whatever time it does you don’t stop slicing meats 15mins before you close! You definitely don’t stop slicing meats 30mins before you close! I understand that employees need and deserve a chance to start cleaning and get ahead of closing but I myself work at a restaurant and when we close at 8 or 9pm we accept customers until we close. After that time we stop accepting customers. When we close at 8 or 9 unfortunately that means if a customer walks in 5mins before that time we MUST serve them! If it’s the policy of Safeway to stop slicing meats 15-30mins before the scheduled closing time it needs to be properly displayed AND posted online! It doesn’t take forever to break down 2 or 3 slicers and clean them for the next day!
