So I came back a couple of hours later by myself and the same lady still wouldn’t sell me a box of wine. She said because I was there earlier with my wife she couldn’t do it. Am I banned for life or the life of my wife. They’re the only game in town so I’ll just have to have bourbon with my meal.

My husband and I have been to various liquor stores in Alaska along with at least 10 other states and many military bases and we’ve bought liquor together or with others and only the buyer has ever had to provide ID. We had no idea about this law (we’ve lived here going on a decade) and I didn’t have my ID on me since he decided last second to go in while we were at Safeway. I understand the reasons for the law (after reading on it since the cashier refused to even state it was the law) but the woman cashier wouldn’t say anything other than she needed my ID even though I wasn’t buying. Refused to sell to my husband because I was there too. So, I went and got my ID to show her. Meanwhile our kid was with us and she had no issue with that even though he’s not 21. So, won’t sell to my husband because I, a woman in her 40’s, am present but the kid who is underage is okay? Explain that logic to me. I was the only woman in the store and the only person she singled out to ID that wasn’t buying alcohol. Really felt like she was just power tripping cause she could. If she’d explained it was state law and was IDing everyone else I would’ve had zero issue with it. First and last time in.
