- GTGareth ToddNov 30, 20231.0I pulled all of my retirement out of TIAA-CREF several years ago and put it in Fidelity (only 2 choices for my universities). There was about $30k that could not come out because it was some crazy fund that you have to withdraw over a 10-year period (which I didn't know was the case when I started contributing 35 years ago). Now I want to start pulling it out (I retired 3-years ago) and put it in my son's 529 account. NOPE, says TIAA. You are eligible to get approximately $0.00! So there's about $33k and change, but i cannot have it, with no real explanation why. I can live with the 10-year withdrawal timeline, but I need to start now.

Each year I put approximately $100 (post tax) in each of my nine nieces and nephews college savings funds. This year my checking account was hacked and I promptly called Edvest to let them know I had to close the account and open a new one. I wanted to pull the same $900 and put it into the kids accounts. Unfortunately Edvest charged each kid $25 for the attempt on the closed checking. They literally wiped out all the profit for most of the the kids. They refused to work with me to wave the fees or at least reduce to a single fee. I closed all of my accounts and my parents are doing the same. I make way more profit on a private investment fund and am moving everything there. Stay away from this company.
