I opened up my checking account in late April 2025.
By July I had deposited over $8,000 in this account.
I purchased a vehicle, which brought my account down to zero.
I requested direct deposits to be sent in and have my income transferred to Banner Bank.
I also requested that my savings account to be Closed in May.
I have a voice recording from a representative at Banner Bank confirming both of those items.
When I opened my account, I had them turn off the overdraft protection.
In July, directly after my boyfriend died, they charged me a 7 dollar service fee. I also lost (broke) my cell phone.
When I got a new cell phone, I had a terrible time putting my Banner Bank account on the new phone. Under the circumstances, it wasn't a priority of mine.
Banner Bank shut off my debit card more than once because of either unusual activity which how can they dictate that when it was a new account or later it was because not enough activity yet I deposited another $500 into my account in July. I actually had to go into the branch and have them reactivate my debit card again.
By the time that they charged me service fees for the savings account that I not only asked but had confirmed in a voicemail for it to be closed, it put my account into a negative standing. Of course they shut the card off again so when I attempted to make my transfer of 500+, like I did every couple of weeks, it didn't go through. I honestly just did not want to mess with it.
Here it is September 10th and I went to the branch to have my card reactivated again and deposit another very decent size check, I was denied. Being told they closed my account and did a write off already.
They stated that my account was in a negative standing for 28 days. $7 and some change. For service fees for the inactive savings account.
So because they failed to do their job I got charged for it because I was under emotional distress I didn't pay attention quick enough to it and now my credit is paying for that.
After the challenges that I have faced in the last few years leading all the way up to my boyfriend dying unexpectedly... This literally made me give up hope. Why am I over here trying so hard to rebuild a life where I have no one and the people I depend on to be there for me can't do the right thing.
I strongly suggest finding a different bank.
