I made a deposit with a personal check drawn from another bank which of course came with a hold, 8 business days which I thought was a lot. But I also thought that was the longest it would be held. My check had cleared the next day from the withdrawal bank so 2 days later I went back to TowneBank to see if I could do a wire transfer. I was told the money was still on hold and wouldn't release until the predefined date regardless of whether the money had posted. That by itself told me this wasn't the bank for me and I would close my account and this review would be only 1 star. That is until, the Senior Vice President and Branch Manager, Anna Bowerman, got involved. Anna explained why the hold was so long and because of the amount, extra precautions are taken. She then verified that the money had indeed been received by TowneBank. She released the hold and processed my wire transfer personally. But where she really made the difference was when she handed me back my paperwork she said that she had waived the wire transfer fee. That little gesture completely changed the dynamic. It said TowneBank does care about their clients. It saved a relationship, and changed a poor start to a good one. I left very pleased and grateful that she went the extra mile to resolve the issue. Also, in fairness to the others who said no, I suspect they didn't have the authority to make a hold release decision and are required to follow the rules. Also, it is one of those folks who said "let me take it to the manager" that got the issue on the right track. Thanks to all at the Constitution Ave Branch who helped. It was much appreciated.
