- OMOcean MasonDec 22, 20251.0I went into this Capital One branch (6949 Commerce St.) on Dec. 22.2025 at 2:15pm to update my legal name on my auto loan and was extremely disappointed by the lack of support. I was told in person that this could not be handled at the branch and that I needed to download the app. Once I downloaded the app, I was instructed to call customer service. When I called, I was routed through automated messages and told to find a form online and fax it — yet no one could tell me where the form actually was or even provide the fax number. When I asked for direct help, I was told they didn’t have that information and was dismissed. This process was confusing, inconsistent, and unnecessarily frustrating. A legal name change is a common request, and it’s unreasonable that a physical branch cannot assist or even provide clear guidance. For comparison, I completed the same process at Wells Fargo with ease and real human support. This experience with Capital One felt like being sent in circles rather than helped. Afterwards, once at home, I went on online to the Help Center and one of the options it listed for a legal name change was to VISIT A BRANCH which I did and was not helped. I hope Capital One improves in-branch support for situations like these.

After they closed the location in Potomac Mills, it forced MANY to commute here to this location. I can def say that I had better experience at the one that closed, but this location it’s always a wait. Luckily I’m patient enough considering it’s the closet bank to me. So it’s a hit or miss to me.
