I have just opened a bank account here and deposited $500. Just moving to the Roanoke area, starting a new job, a new apartment etc. so it’s a pretty stressful situation. I went to the Franklin rd. Truist to withdraw $100 because my debit card hasn’t came in the mail yet. My available account balance was $500 yet the bank teller refused to let me withdraw money trying to claim the money hasn’t posted yet. I know without a doubt it was because I had just gotten off work and I work for an electrical/plumbing contractor and it’s dirty work sometimes and you could tell it had been sort of a messy day. It shouldn’t matter. I work hard for my money, I have 6 kids to take care of and it’s hard enough moving to a new area and working a full time job and trying to do the right thing and make ends meet on a day to day basis without a bank teller judging you and refusing to give you your own money when you need it. I went about 5 miles down the road to another Truist branch and they allowed me to withdraw my money immediately with no hassle. I don’t want to judge or condemn anyone trying to do their job but I had my ID and all the necessary documentation and there was no reason to deny me my own money. I hope the teller there in downtown will see the error of her ways and stop judging the working man just because he may be rough looking from a hard days work. I’m not mad at her it’s just frustrating. If this is how Truist treats their patrons I may be switching banks. I need to know the people I’m trusting with my money have my best interests at heart and are truly trying to help me. It seems like maybe they forget who’s who in this equation. Anyway,
It may not seem like a big deal but I have enough to worry about and don’t need someone refusing me my own money.

Truist in general has forgotten that their primary role for the Majority of their customers, is to provide a service. Instead, they attempt to control how, and when you are able to access your own money by placing daily limits on debit cards, which many times they refuse to modify, evert after you go thru the difficult process of actually getting to speak to a human. Go find another bank, almost any other bank would be preferable, but particularly one that focuses on the individual... Not one that seems to believe their own BS of "Building better communities"
