I use Ally bank which does not have a physical location. I have always been able to make a withdrawal at any bank and pay the fee (which Ally reimburses me). Today I was told that I cannot in fact withdraw money and if I use one of their ATMs they would "try" to give me change from 20s to 100s. The older lady helped me and she was extremely rude, huffing/sighing at me. All I did was smile say thanks and leave. I am actually confused if this is a bank?Good luck coming here! There's a Bank of America across the street. A machine, an ATM did the work. ....lol

Truist is a dysfunctional bank. It's an embarrassment. Do not consider banking with Truist. Look for a local credit union.
Here's a snapshot of our years of experiences as someone who was with Suntrust, and was grandfathered into Truist.
• HELOC loan under BB&T wasn't locked in as we signed off and requested, and paperwork under BB&T was lost and never sent to us. We began getting letters from Truist in August, but dated for March, warning us that our APR was going up by 5%. We checked our loan account, and our credit line's APR was increased by 2-3%. The guy who signed off on our loan quit, and the new people won't explain the issue beyond a mistake was made that impacts many others. Truist wouldn't make corrections or fixes to the loans they messed up. They don't have access to the HELOC loan paperwork under BB&T anymore, so there's no proof of the locked-in rate. Our low interest HELOC had to be turned into an average rate a fixed rate loan at the higher rate.
• New cards constantly sent to the wrong address. I called and called and customer support were seeing our home address was correct in the system, issuing new cards each time, but the cards were getting sent somewhere else. Eventually had to ask the cards be mailed to a local branch to pick up there. I had to keep getting temporary cards at a branch for a total of 6 months until I was finally able to get new cards.
• We were being charged fees willy-nilly just for accessing the funds in our own loan accounts. One branch would charge us fees, while another branch wouldn't, for withdrawing from the exact same accounts.
• I met with a Truist teller (Parham Road branch) to get a small car loan. Teller suggested I should get a larger loan than what I needed. I needed the loan urgently to buy a car and time was of the essence. He made it seem I woudn't get approved for a lower loan. Keep in mind my credit score is at the high end. I got approved for a car loan at Henrico Federal Credit Union in a matter of days, without ever needing to go into the bank. It took two months for the Truist teller just to get back to me about the possibility of a car loan with Truist. Total embarassment.
+ Tellers are aggressive attempting to get you to open a credit account. Calls after calls after calls. I've told several tellers not to contact me for interest in opening a credit card account, but they've called me repeatedly and I've had to block them. One teller told me a lie about opening a credit account: that I would be able to migrate my credit from one old account to a new one with 0% APR for 1 year, and scheduled an appointment. Only for me to meet with Truist and be told they can't migrate credit from one account to another. They have to outsource to other banks, like Chase, which actually permit transfer of credit between accounts. Tellers don't even know what Truist is capable of permitting, they're just told to advertise their credit.
+ Our business' name was misspelled at the creation of our business banking account (Virginia Center Marketplace branch). Information about accessing our account was never given to us, so we had to constantly go back to different branches to get assistance with even accessing our account. The business debit card was mailed to the wrong address, and we found there are fees for transferring money from personal to business accounts. Which means I need to withdraw money from an ATM, and use it deposit it into my other account to not incur fees I would have paid dealing with a teller. Absolutely bonkers.
• A teller at the West Broad branch stole several dollars from us when making a large deposit with many small $1 and $5 bills. It was a small miscalculation on my part that I found out later, but if you can't trust the people touching your money, you can't trust that bank. It's absurd to think otherwise.
Even the tellers don't like working for Truist, it's overwhelmingly obvious. If you work there, get a different job. You are a laughing stock of the banking world. There are online forums specifically for bashing Truist.
