At Truist, our purpose is to inspire and build better lives and communities. That happens through real care to make things better. To meet client needs, to empower teammates, and to lift up communities.
As you can see by the overall 2.3 rating this Truist branch is horrible!! Every time I go to the ATM there is an issue, either it's completely not working or it "can't read the card" and you are maxed out at $40. SO FRUSTRATING considering they don't open til 9am and many people have things to do before work, if the ATM is going to be broken, then open up earlier, it's not rocket science. To top it off when you do go inside there is inevitably a line and its move like a sloth energy in there, expect a 20 minute delay minimum. The three cars total, in front and behind me all had the same issues as per usual.
Going to switch over to Capital One later today :)

I am the executor for my friend who passed on 7/12. At the Catoctin Branch, I found that contrary to what my friend was led to believe and what she requested, I was listed as the POA NOT THE POD! My friend was a senior citizen from Peru and had only 3 years of schooling. She was under the impression that everything in her accounts would go to me as she wanted and I would take care of the bills and distribute the rest as she wanted. Because of this bank's incompetence, nothing like that happened!
I ask the employee what I needed to do to access the funds since I had paid all the funeral and final items out of my personal account. He told me to go to the courthouse. When I asked what department and what document I needed to bring back to the bank, he said 'I don't work for the court and and I don't know. Just ask the people at the court. Very rude, nasty and no customer service at all. I am 75 and disabled with MS but I had to make the trek to the court, do a lot of walking, fill out papers, come back a week later, pay $129 fee and go to IRS.gov to obtain an EIN number. I was listed in the will as the executor but had to have a certificate from the court for the bank.
This time, I took the paper from the court and took it to the other Truist in Leesburg (on Edward's Ferry Road) thinking they would be better. WRONG!
The employee did not know how to handle the issue at all. The manager came over a few times but just continued to let the employee struggle while I waited. It took a very long time.
When the estate account was finally set up, I said that I would like a cashier's check for everything but $100 to keep the account open in case any refunds, etc. came through. She said that the money was not mine, it would take 2 days for the funds to be available (this was my friend's Truist account to a new Truist account so there should have been no hold on the funds), and that I should come back on Friday. I asked if I could get the funds then since I had used my own money and I needed reimbursed so I could pay my August bills. She said when I came in on Friday, she would see what she could do! Then I lost it and asked to speak to the manager. Even though it was before closing time, the employee said the manager had left. So she didn't even stay around to see if the issue had been successfully completed. I asked the employee for contact info for Truist Corporate as I wanted to file a complaint. She said she had no idea since they never called corporate!
The next morning, Truist called and said they could give me a cashier's check. Duh, no kidding! I asked to speak to the manager but she was unavailable.
I said I would be coming in tomorrow for the check and expected to be able to talk with the manager. The employee said the bank would need the receipts for all the final expenses I paid from my personal account. I told her that was not happening and there was no legal requirement that I give them that info. Well, the bank wants the receipts. I told her the bank could basically pound sand!
In both of these interactions, there was one phrase that never came out of their mouth, " I am sorry." No one takes responsibility anymore for anything. It is always someone else's fault.
In a addition to losing my friend of over 25 years, I had to go through all this stress which caused me to not be able to sleep last night which is not good for my MS.
So, we shall see what transpires tomorrow when I go to receive the check and speak with the manager.
STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS BANK AS YOU CAN. THEY ARE I COMPETENT AND NOT ON THE UP AND UP!!!!!!!!!

Lousy and unfriendly staff, worst customer service, avoid banking at this branch if possible. The staff make their own rules and turn away the customers.

i went to their atm as i was visiting in VA and i needed to put some cash into my account. i put 45 dollars into my account and the atm shut down on me. never gave me my money and never put it into my account. when i went inside the building it took almost an hour to have someone talk to me and they basically told me there was nothing they could do besides an incident report because they “don’t own the atm”. they said they would send something in the mail. well, 2 weeks later i get a letter in the mail and was told there was no issue and i will not be receiving my money back. when i called them after i received my letter i was hung up on.
i would advice everyone to please not go here. they are very unhelpful and will not take you seriously no matter how respectful you are. i will be changing my bank and will never return to truist again.

Unfortunately, my experience at this branch was very disappointing. There was no effort made to ensure customer satisfaction. Instead of trying to help or find a solution, I was simply told, “That’s our policy,” even when it was clear they didn’t fully understand the issue. No initiative was taken, and there was a complete lack of willingness to assist. Honestly, it felt like a waste of time.
