I visited the Capital One branch in Leesburg, VA because I needed to complete an international wire transfer to my wife in Thailand. This was my first time at this location. When I walked in, I noticed a row of desks to my left where a customer was already being helped. A teller greeted me right away, and when I told him I needed a wire transfer, he politely asked me to have a seat. I chose to stand so I wouldn’t miss my turn.
While waiting, I saw a woman cleaning up a desk. She was wearing latex gloves, jeans, and a polo shirt, so I assumed she was part of the cleaning staff. A minute later, she approached me and asked how she could help. I was genuinely impressed at first—great customer service from someone I didn’t expect to be a banker. She directed me to a desk, asked for my ID, and began the process. She scanned my ID, asked whether it was a domestic or international transfer, and I gave her the necessary details.
After a few minutes, she informed me that Capital One does not do wire transfers. I was honestly shocked. I asked how a major bank doesn’t offer such a basic service, but I couldn’t get a clear answer. She mentioned something about doing it personally, though her accent made it difficult for me to fully understand.
I left the branch disappointed and confused.
From my car, I called Capital One’s 800 number. One representative told me I could complete the transfer online. Back at my office, I tried — but I couldn’t find any option for wire transfers. The AI chat didn’t help either.
Reading through Capital One’s help pages only added to the confusion: some articles stated that international transfers can be done in person at a branch, not online. So I called the 800 number again.
This time, a different representative told me that Capital One does not offer wire transfers at all and that I should use a third-party service.
At that point, I was baffled. Capital One has cafés, sells coffee, and promotes a modern “banking experience,” yet something as standard as a wire transfer seems to be completely unavailable — and even their own staff give conflicting answers.
In my opinion, it would be better for Capital One to focus less on coffee and more on traditional banking services and clear communication. My visit to this location left me more confused than helped.

Definitely do not recommend this branch of banking one of the most rudest people working in this branch. Overall unfriendly do not recommend poor attitude. Don’t come here for banking. There are better places with better people that are willing to help you.

I had a very disappointing experience at Capital One with Teller Rita. I went for notary services but didn’t receive the help I expected. When I mentioned closing my accounts—after being a loyal customer for over seven years—she replied, “It’s your decision.” Very unprofessional and disappointing customer service.
