- LLLeeJan 4, 20251.0This review addresses Wells Fargo’s overall customer service and security protocols. On Saturday, January 4, 2025, I received an email at 3:11 PM stating that my account had been frozen due to suspicious activity. Along with being locked out of online banking, I was instructed to contact the fraud department. Upon calling, I completed voice authentication and provided all requested information, including my full name, Social Security number, phone number, and the authorization code sent via text message. Despite complying with every step to verify my identity, I spent over 90 minutes on the phone and was told repeatedly that my identity could not be confirmed. The representatives informed me that I would need to visit a branch in person on Monday to resolve the issue, leaving me without access to my money or account until then. In my opinion, this is entirely unacceptable. Fortunately, I had no immediate plans requiring access to my funds, but had I been traveling or needed money urgently, this situation would have been disastrous. While I understand the need for security protocols, I had provided all the requested information to verify my identity. This is the second time in 12 months that such an issue has occurred with Wells Fargo. Their authentication system is flawed, and their inability to assist customers over the phone, even when all questions are answered correctly, is deeply concerning. As a result of this experience, I plan to close all my accounts with Wells Fargo on Monday. This level of service and security is unacceptable for any financial institution.

Any problem I have had with Wells Fargo has been unrelated to their physical services. However, it is a good bank for debit and credit cards, just not for savings.
