I am sorry to say I am "breaking up" with this branch after visiting it for many years. The poor reviews are absolutely true -- they lie to you about KeyBank policies and you will get conflicting information from different bankers -- or at least, there is ONE SPECIFIC banker who lies and makes things difficult: the branch manager.
The tellers have all been great, most of the bankers are fantastic too (if a little inexperienced) but I can no longer tolerate the branch manager. She always acts uncomfortable and hostile when I interact with her, which is no crime but is extremely off-putting and I dread when she's the only person available to help me. I've experienced passive-aggressive behavior from her but it's hard to call that kind of thing out, but the last straw has been updating my information after a name change.
Currently I only have the court order document for my name change, but that was sufficient to update the name on my account. I was told by the banker who first helped me to give it about a week for the system to update and now my account reflects my new name. I received a call from the original banker saying I needed to come back so they could scan a copy of the court order and just in case he wasn't in, he'd inform the team.
I went into the branch two business days later, he was not in on that day so the branch manager "helped" me. First red flag: she said she didn't know what I was talking about when I explained why I was there. So after telling her I was updating my name (and her confirming that it was updated in the system) I asked her if I could start depositing checks since the name on the account still matched. She told me they'd require an updated driver's license (which will take a couple more weeks because I need an updated birth certificate to get a new drivers license, and in the meantime I'm unable to deposit my income and pay bills...). I left without a fuss because she said there was nothing they could do to help me. I can't ask the check-writer to write a new one with my old name because it NO LONGER MATCHES THE ACCOUNT.
This was extremely suspicious to me because I have NEVER needed a photo ID to deposit a check (I never ask for cash when I deposit). I have deposited checks for OTHER PEOPLE with no issues. So the name on the check matches the name on the account but I can't deposit it.... I called KeyBank customer service and it turns out this ISN'T KeyBank policy. The customer service representative sounded confused but said that sometimes branches are managed differently and that could be branch policy... which again, I have never been asked for my ID for a deposit before this.
So the manager is not following KeyBank policy for no discernible reason. I hate to blame this on discrimination but I see no other explanation besides some weird power trip. I do look "alternative" with dyed hair and a pin jacket and whatnot... but I have been a loyal and polite customer for years and have always been treated well by every single other employee.
I hesitated to write this because I know that if it is brought to her attention she will know exactly who I am, and this location is convenient and all of the rest of the staff are lovely so I am sad to stop coming here, but I can't tolerate this anymore. Even if she were disciplined or admonished I would never trust her again, so the only reason I'll ever return is if she's fired or transferred to a different location.
I will be finding a different branch, and I recommend you avoid this one if you don't look like a straight-edge square.

Not safe!!! There are always drug addicts shooting up in the stairwell on the west side of the building right next to drive up. All day on Sundays. The police tell the homeless it's private property so they cannot do anything. Go there now if you think I'm kidding.

Been banking here for a while now and usually it’s great, however I talked with margarita and she was extremely rude, short tempered and has absolutely no reason to be treating people that like that, very unprofessional. How does she even have a job there??
