I 🚨 WARNING: BEWARE OF KEYBANK’S BAD-FAITH PRACTICES 🚨 I’m filing this complaint to expose how KeyBank mishandled my emergency funds and caused severe hardship. On Oct. 7, 2025, I deposited a $7,445.15 check from my attorney — verified, cleared, and paid out by Bank of America. Before depositing, I was promised by staff and the Draper branch manager that if a hold was placed, it would be removed immediately due to my situation. Despite that, the Orem branch — a location I have no relationship with — overrode their decision, refused to release the funds, and imposed a 10-day hold even after confirmation that the check cleared and funds had left the issuing bank. Both Draper and Willow Creek branches agreed the hold should be lifted, but Orem refused without justification. To make matters worse, the Orem branch manager hung up on me during a call witnessed by a bank employee. This is not just poor service — it’s bad-faith banking, breach of fiduciary duty, and possibly violation of Regulation CC (withholding already-paid funds). I was forced into financial crisis during a family emergency because this bank broke its promise and held my money hostage. Until they correct this and release my funds, I will leave this review publicly to warn others. If unresolved, I will be closing my account. I want this issue immediately corrected, even though I’ve already escalated it to the executive offices. It may not get handled in time so unless they overturn their decision I will leave this review in place as a warning to other consumers about the bad faith banking practices transpiring in Orem at this location

Opened a new account specifically to get the new customer bonus. I was not eligible to open it online so I went in the branch to open it. I specifically asked about the same offer being applied to the account opening, and was assured that the account would be eligible to earn the new customer bonus. The worker at the branch lied. I called Key Bank and was told that no offer had been applied to my account and I wasn't eligible for the bonus. I wouldn't recommend using this bank, as they're sloppy with their work, and liars. I'm closing my account.

Keybank Executive Office has froze and restricted accounts but still accepted,$13,000, they tell us no reason why restricted, gave no notice. They restricted them and allowed deposits. The matter was resolved a week later. Thank you for releasing the funds.

DO NOT TRUST THEM. I opened a bank account with them got money deposited and they closed my account because it wasn’t “verified” I had to go back and fourth with them about it, after I sent my ID in and re opened my account they closed it again without notice they will not give you any sort of notice. I lost my direct deposit and now have to wait for a check to get mailed to me because of the account closure. They have no empathy or remorse with messing with people’s money after I told them I had money in the account to pay bills they just bluntly said “ask them to send you a check” yes I know I can have the employer do that but I set up direct deposit because I have to pay bills on time that’s the whole purpose. I got transferred three times and had to repeat myself every time because they would just transfer me without even telling me they were going to transfer me. They do not care about their customers they do not care what they do with your money DO NOT BANK HERE IT IS NOT WORTH IT

This place is like the Walmart of banks. 1 teller to help 12 people in line. If you plan on coming here bring a book and a snack while you wait.
