The level of service I received from Kim Yan at First Community Credit Union (Research Forest Branch) was, without exaggeration, completely unacceptable. Her interaction with me failed to meet even the most basic standards of professionalism and customer service. I visited the Research Forest branch after receiving a call from FCCU’s corporate office regarding a fraudulent cashier’s check transaction. I was specifically instructed by FCCU’s Fraud Department to go to this branch to have my cashier’s checks reissued. Instead of receiving assistance, I was humiliated and interrogated. Kim Yan repeatedly claimed that the call I received was a scam, denying that it came from FCCU and asserting that scammers had access to the credit union’s corporate phone number. She further stated that FCCU would never contact customers by phone about fraud and that no Fraud Investigation Unit or Fraud Department exists—statements that were entirely inaccurate. Despite following explicit instructions provided by FCCU’s Fraud Department, Kim provided no assistance whatsoever in resolving the fraudulent transaction. She repeatedly redirected me to my insurance company to obtain protection for the amount of the cashier’s checks—without explanation and without any relevance to the issue. I had no understanding of what she was referring to, and she made no effort to clarify or educate me on the proper process for resolving a fraudulent cashier’s check that originated from FCCU itself. Kim demonstrated a complete lack of familiarity with FCCU cashier’s check protocols and banking procedures. Basic information—such as the location of FCCU’s corporate headquarters in Houston—was withheld until I persistently pressed for it, turning a straightforward request into an unnecessarily frustrating experience. Throughout the interaction, her attitude was apathetic and indifferent. I have never experienced such a profound level of incompetence and lack of knowledge from an employee at a financial institution. This interaction was deeply disappointing and entirely unacceptable.
