  Apparently you cannot cash in checks, even if you have an account with Amegy or with your own valid drivers license. The attitude of the receptionists, bank tellers and manager are subpar and severely lacking in any and all customer service skills. I’d recommend everyone still associated with Amegy Bank, especially this branch, to take their money and their business’ money elsewhere.

  I went there to cash a check written by an Amegy account holder business. The check was written to me (for which I provided a valid Tx driver's license). They told me it would cost $8. I told the gentleman that I would be more than happy to open an account since I plan on doing additional business with the Amegy account holder that wrote the check. The banker sat down at his desk, I gave him my license and he then got up to consult with another banker. He came back and told me that even if I opened an account they would place a hold on the check if I deposited it, then told me that they also could not cash the check. Since it was a check written from a business with an Amegy account, I asked him why. He just stated that I would have to call the business that wrote the check. He wouldn't tell me if it was an insufficient fund issue, just that I would have to contact the company that wrote it. They should be able to provide more transparency and explanation. I took the check to my bank and spoke with my business banker and he was able to give me more information about an Amegy check than the Amegy banker. I'll just keep my banking business with other local banks / credit unions.

  All banks charge non account holders to cash checks. IDK why boomers are complaining. Been this way for 15 years.

  Never had issues with a bank until I banked with amegy . I’ll be banking somewhere else.
