Horrible bank. Go ANYWHERE other than Truist. Froze my account 2 YEARS ago because they believed a check from THDA (Tennessee state gov't) for covid relief was fraudulent, even after receiving official documentation from the institution as well as REGIONS where the check was cut from. Two years and a CFPB complaint later they still hold almost $9k of my money and refuse to release it.

I only opened an account with this bank because it is the closest to where I live and I don't have a car. The manager was very nice and personable. I felt that I was making a good choice. Monday was Columbus Day so I deposited my paycheck through mobile banking. I know from previous checks that there would be a next day hold. Boy, was I wrong. The hold was now to last for two days. I called customer care and requested to have at least $15 released so I could pay on my weekly bus pass. I was declined and advise that my funds will be available the next day. I was offered overdraft service but I refused. And now, I am being punished for either requesting for a little of my hard earned money to be released or because I declined overdraft because now my paycheck is being held for another 7 days. I just started a job after being unemployed for a few months. I can not afford overdraft fees nor to wait an additional 7 days for my paycheck to clear. Overdraft services is possible but why pay an additional $36 for money I earned fairly? Why would a bank encourage that? Almost two hours on the phone with a understanding supervisor brought no resolution. I have bills to pay with no way to do it. If my boss cancels my paycheck so he can reissue another so I can have an account with the bank he uses, will cost us both fees. I can get a fair resolution with SunTrust. I will be closing my account after SunTrust decides to release my paycheck to me. Never again will they have my service.
