I have been a client of Edward Jones for about 20 years. Robert (Bob) Stokes has been my financial adviser for about 12 of those years. He took over from another adviser that left the company when we both lived in Michigan. When he moved to Tennessee, my wife and I decided to keep him as our adviser. Why; trust and proven results. Bob has been there for us throughout all the ups and downs we had with the terrible economy in Michigan and those here in our new state of residency. Financial advisers have to be relationship managers as well. They try to manage the relationships between themselves and a lot of times it means managing the expectations of the client. What does the client expect from the adviser when the market is on the upturn or downturn. Are the client's expectations reasonable and how do you deal with that. In order to effectively deal with the issues and concerns that arise from questions like what I described above the financial adviser has to know their client individually; especially if a couple or more individuals in any kind of relationship are associated with the account(s) being managed. That is what Bob and Mary Jane strive to accomplish and they have done a wonderful job for us; exceeded our expectations. So much so that we have highly recommended him to prospective clients of a wide range of financial statuses, life statuses, and age groups in our area. They are very pleased with what Bob and Mary Jane have done for them. So much so that they have recommended him to others. Bob actually flies out to this area for a few days to meet individually with his clients. A true statement of dedication and support for his clients and the relationship he has with them. They, like my wife and I prefer to work with him than the local offices. That alone is a statement about the relationship he has with his clients. We consider Bob to be a wonderful person that just happens to be a great wealth manager too. He is a very caring human being and if there is any advice that can be offered outside of the financial realm to get you past the current crisis in your life he will offer, if asked. I am very much a no nonsense person and I know that integrity and respect are very important parts of any relationship. Robert Stokes and Mary Jane have our sincere respect, gratitude, and trust because of their integrity, sense of humanity, professionalism, and trustworthiness. Robert is an exemplary person and wealth manager.

I liked Mary Jane and Robert when I meet them. Setup my account and signed all the paperwork. A week or 2 later I get paperwork in the mail with my middle initial wrong. I called customer service immediately. Customer service said sorry about that and we will fix it. So they tell me everything is fix and I ended the call. Weeks later I get 2 more letters with my name wrong again. I take this as a sign and decided to cut my losses and close my account. Mary Jane was apologetic and offered to correct the mistake. But I told her I had heard this before and at this point I don't trust EdwardJones with my money since they cant even get my name right. Robert aka Bob calls me and I tell him basically the same thing I told Mary Jane. And wouldn't you know it! Bob confirmed my intuition! After Bob told me my name had been corrected in the computer he asked if I wanted to keep the account. I told him no, but in a nice way. The whole conversation I had had with everyone had been nice and polite from all parties. And out of no wear he says to me. Blah blah blah...Your money is not going to break me... Blah blah blah. That 1 statement confirmed he didn't care about my account or my paperwork and that's why they were sloppy with my paperwork. He was so happy to tell my about the processing fee for taxes that he was going to take out of my $500 leaving me with about $450. I hope that fee keeps him afloat. Why would I want to stay with Edward Jones for years knowing and feeling like they cant follow my directions or get something as simple as my name correct. I wouldn't. But I'm glad Robert told me losing my account want break him. But Robert knows I'm not broke either. I didn't feel the need to tell him his processing fee will not break me. I'm glad Robert and Mary Jane are not handling my money. I saw and heard how they just don't really care. Because they know they will still charge their fees and make money if you do or not.
