edit from 09.05.25: Might have to eat my words lol. I went through the drive up to deposit, and as a young woman who doesn’t manage this stuff a lot of the time, I wasn’t sure if I had to wait for them to greet me/if they were busy/etc. So I sat waiting, and eventually a woman (name plate in the window says Shelby) kinda rudely goes “is there something I can help you with?”. A little gentler tone and compassion would be appreciated, not everyone does this everyday or knows how it works lol. I said “oh yeah sorry, I’m just looking to deposit some cash. I didn’t know if I was supposed to grab the thing or wait”. and she said “yeah everytime you put stuff in there and then we greet you”. Like… okay? lol. I just didn’t know. This is the exact type of interaction where nothing horrible happens, but basic like kindness/friendliness in communication is lacking. Moral of the story, some people here are great and friendly, some are just not the best interaction. Everyone has a bad day, but you can be understanding and friendly to people regardless, especially when they just don’t know how it works. I’m sure she’s a great friendly person, maybe having an off day, tired, life circumstances etc, but with the other frustrations I’ve had with FIB I guess I just hoped for friendlier customer service. I work in customer service and even on my worst days, I wouldn’t have such a rude tone with customers. I also don’t need the automated reply to reviews saying how “we apologize for letting you down”. For people with concerns, give a real reply and a direct resource. Very disappointing overall. I had completed a survey sent out via email and I’ll be honest - I was very blunt about my frustrations when completing the survey. I received an email today from Melony asking if there was anything they could do to better my experience and we chatted over email about the issues I’d been having. She gave me some great tips and made me feel much more comfortable with the customer service at this location!! Melanie was also great a few weeks back. I had gotten a $30 service charge for transferring between accounts during an emergency and I left a voicemail asking if anything could be done, Melanie called me back and as a one time courtesy waived $20 of the $30. While I’ve had my frustrations with First Interstate, I really appreciated them reaching out and hearing me out on my frustrations while giving me solutions and being so friendly and kind. Thank you, Melony and Melanie!!!

Bought out my bank and I'm already unhappy with them. My bank started charging me $2 for printed, mailed statements which had been free when they said they were now First Interstate last February. First interstate employee last winter told me the only way to avoid this was to go to their website and register for online e-statements. First Interstate employee yesterday that I talked to in person said that they weren't actually the bank till this May and that the cost of the statements I've been having charged to my account for the last 4 or 5 months wasn't their fault because I am eligible for free mailed statements. Also they sent out a brochure that talked about the changes and totally neglected to mention what to do about direct deposits, just about online bill pay. I called and spent over 40 minutes on hold, someone finally answered and then disconnected the phone call. I had to go to the downtown main office and talk to someone in person about this. I also have over 3 1/2 boxes of checks that I bought last fall that are going to become useless as of December. I'd just ordered new checks, enough to easily last decades since I rarely write them anymore, and I had enough spare money to put in a large order for once. And now I have to start over. Their westside branch is far more inconvenient than the one that was in Family Fare, and to get home I have to turn across two lanes of traffic going the opposite way no matter which exit I use. I liked Great Western Bank which they bought out. I am already unhappy enough with First Interstate that I am seriously considering closing my account and finding a different place to bank with.
