I switched to South State a while ago and I could not be more pleased. I have had the pleasure of working with Kyle and Travis at the Pelham Rd branch. Travis is my main contact and he is a great. If I need him he is just an email or call away. I have gone with South State for my Business and personal accounts and it was the right move. I highly recommend South State bank.

I had a checking account with South State Bank for five years, but my account was compromised multiple times in the last two years. My initial contact regarding the most recent fraudulent charges was through their customer service line. I spoke to three different people over four days before I reached someone who could assist me, and in those four days – the fraudster hit my account again – despite their recommendation that I didn’t need to close my account. The Financial Sales Representative at the branch tried to help, but there were multiple errors I had to ask to be corrected. My new debit card was issued with an outdated address, despite my profile being updated – resulting in an inability to use my card for online purchases. The Bank Manager didn’t take my concerns seriously either. She insisted everything was fine with my account despite the card being useless. 2 weeks, multiple emails and phone calls, lost work hours, and four trips to the branch later, I gave up thinking they would ever correct their mistakes. I decided to move most of my money to a new bank. The last straw broke two months later, when they charged a $10 fee for not being enrolled in e-statements—something I was never clearly informed about. I went to the branch to close my account and gave the bank manager one last opportunity to prove she could provide good customer service. However, she failed again by smugly keeping the $10 service fee. (I hope it was worth it.) The lack of accountability and basic customer service was astonishing. I strongly recommend banking elsewhere.

This bank has the most Friendly, personable, helpful personal. I recently moved into the area and I call a week later on the phone and they knew my voice immediately. Every time I walk into the bank they address me by my first name. Love this bank.
