The First Citizens Bank on Laurens in Greenville S.C. has a teller that I suspect has some sort of biases toward certain groups that is obvious in the instrusive nature of every transaction I have made with her. I have visited First Citizens from Spartanburg to Mauldin with no issues making deposits. However, this drive through teller constantly demands additional identification for a deposit!! Mind you, every other teller at the same bank and others do not make this same request. This should really be investigated as possible biases and possibly discriminatory practice. Very unfortunate for First Citizens Bank on Laurens Rd!!

I've been a loyal customer! I'm a victim of fraud! Go to use my card it declines while out of town and being told I need to call back is BAD BUSINESS! ALL Offered was my card being canceled!! Do not have your money deposited into this institution!!!

I went there on Tuesday 11/5 around 10am to get a cashier’s check. I do not have a bank locally and I have had no issues getting a cashier’s check from First Citizens before and my job uses the First Citizen’s downtown and have always had great service there.
However, my interaction at this location on Tuesday was anything less than pleasant. First, the teller supervisor required $20.00 in cash, wouldn’t accept the fee from my debit or credit cards and that she didn’t tell me about until after already having me wait for the “special permission” on the cashiers check. She claimed the cash advance machine was down.
Okay, whatever. I go get $20.00 from an ATM and return. This time the drive through teller came up. I provide the $20.00s, my ID, and my debit card to get the cashier’s check. The women then became extremely rude in her tone and refusal to listen to what I had to say. “We only do cash,” “you were told the cash advance machine was down,” etc etc. First and foremost, I was told that the $20.00 needed to be in cash, nothing else. Secondly, being told the “cash advance machine was down” was in reference to the $20.00 for the cashier’s check.
Thirdly, I mentioned how I have done it previously at FCs on a card and after 2-3 times of “we never do it” THEN she says “well our cash advance machine is down, I already told you that.”
So which is it? You NEVER do it on a card OR you do it but your cash advance machine is down? I can see why she is stuck on the drive through and not allowed to interact with customers face to face normally due to her tone and straight dismissal of actual events that she wasn’t involved in. No sorry from her, no “I apologize for the miscommunication,” nothing.
This definitely makes me never want to personally bank with First Citizens. If customer service is important to this bank, they will find a new teller. Oh, lastly I left without my cashier’s check and spent $25.00 elsewhere to get it done.
