- DDDotJun 11, 20251.0Me and my husband opened a joint account together with First Citizens. My husband had a personal First Citizens account that was linked to his mother’s account from when he was a minor. I got locked out of my debit card so I called card services at First Citizens. I was told that I had to provide an access code to prove my identity but I never received the text. Come to find out, my phone number on file had been automatically updated by a customer service representative with First Citizens that I did not authorize. It was updated to my mother in laws phone number. I have no idea how it happened because I did not do it and First Citizens does not know how it happened either. My mother in law is now receiving me and my husbands bank statements at her home. I have no idea how this happened either because she is not on my account. This is not only a breach of trust and privacy but extremely reckless considering someone has access to my personal information. I have been with over 4 banks and have never experienced this type of incompetency before! Not to mention that when you sign up, you have to wait 4-7 business days for your bank card to come in the mail! And you have to give the banker that sets your account up your bank pin and hope they enter it in correctly, which she entered it in wrong, hence why I was locked out to begin with. Extremely outdated practices and very obvious lack of care for security! I will be closing my account soon due to this awful experience! Do not bank here! Save yourself the headache and go to Founders!!!
