I had a serious issue with Wells Fargo when they reversed a legitimate check I had issued. The bank never provided a rational or credible explanation for why the check was flagged, and their communication was nonexistent—they made no attempt to notify me by phone, text, or email. I only discovered the problem on my own while reviewing my online account. Had they notified me, I could have rectified their error before it was too late.
Because of their mistake, I suffered a significant financial loss. Although Wells Fargo eventually reimbursed me, the amount was only a small token compared to the actual cost of their error. They accepted no responsibility for the harm they caused. Based on my experience, I strongly warn others to avoid this bank. Their lack of communication and accountability is unacceptable.
Follow Up (12/23/2025)
After posting this review, Wells Fargo responded publicly with a generic request that I contact yet another department. Unfortunately, this response is consistent with how this issue was handled from the beginning.
I worked through both my local branch and Wells Fargo’s corporate resolution process. At no point did the bank proactively notify me when the check was reversed. At no point did they provide a clear or credible explanation for why it was flagged. And at no point did anyone take ownership of the consequences.
After repeated follow-ups, Wells Fargo offered a partial reimbursement that covered only a small portion of the loss, while continuing to deny responsibility. The public suggestion to “reach out” is not a solution—I already did, extensively, with no meaningful resolution.
I’m updating this review so others understand that this was not a single interaction or a communication gap. It was a prolonged process marked by deflection, poor communication, and lack of accountability.
