I banked with Umpqua Bank for 24yrs, since I graduated High School! In 2023 I had to leave my long term job due to medical reasons and this really started the decline of my experience with them. After merging with Columbia bank things operated differently one being CASH deposits were not available for 24-72hrs. Eventually I was told I needed to find a new bank that could meet my needs and I did but left my Umpqua account open. The last few issues I had with them were charging me a monthly paper statement fee for 2yrs even after it was turned off multiple times in my account. They also continued to allow a gym to debit my account even after I was told it would never happen again. All that to bring me to this final issue. Due to my health and being out of work my relative (older) was able to deposit money in my account from the city they live in to help with bills. He let me know that he tried to deposit money in my account recently but was told my account had been closed out!! This was news to me and I have no notice about it. And now last minute we’re scrambling trying to figure something out as it’s the end of the month and rent is due in a few days. It’s just so disappointing that after 24yrs of banking with them and facing financial hardships due to become DISABLED they just discarded me. Umpqua Bank used to be a great bank for the community but in my opinion greed has become more important for them!

Went to make a deposit, they shredded my debit card, and I left without a replacement. This happened today. I went Into this location to make a quick deposit in the ATM outside. Finished my transaction, noticed my debit card was fairly worn down, and decided to head in and see about a replacement. The Teller Chad Dean told me it would not be a problem and should take only five minutes to print me one (no offer to just send me a new one since my current one still works). It was 12:31 PM when I entered the building. He takes my information & debit card and asks me to wait in the lobby. At 12:50 PM he comes back out and tells me they are having issues with their machine and it should only be another ten to fifteen minutes. 1:10 pm comes around and the manager Andy Ouelette comes out and has a nervous demeaner about him. He tells me they are having difficulties and he offers me three options. 1. I leave and come back later, 2. I go to another location and have them try to print a new card, and 3. I wait three weeks for a replacement to be mailed to me. I asked if we could just skip all of this and just give me my card back so I can be on my way. He leaves, comes back out, and tells me they have already shredded my old debit card. I asked how much longer it would take for them to print the new card, He told me fifteen to twenty more minutes. I said I will just wait. (It would take the same amount of time to drive to another location and I would be burning gas so it made the most sense). He then proceeded to walk ten steps away and began complaining about me to one of his subordinates. something along the lines of "I gave him options I don't understand why he's being so pushy." Keep in mind all I asked was how long it would take. It was very rude considering the situation. I had been patiently waiting the whole time and never said a word to anyone. 1:44 pm, thirty-four minutes later he comes back out and tells me that they cannot help me and he would have to send me to another location anyway. One hour and thirteen minutes after I originally came in. He said so in a very hurried tone, said "sorry" and then left without saying anything else. Chad Dean then came out and wrote down the address for the other location, also said sorry, and I was on my way to a different Umpqua bank. 1:56 PM I arrived at the second location and explained the situation to them. They were aware and began getting my info from me once more. I told Janine Amodeo about what I had just experienced at the previous bank and how I felt they had wasted my time and that I was spoken to in an unprofessional way (not to mention the manager complaining about me to his subordinates mere steps away). I said that I was thinking of writing a Google review when she stopped and advised me not to do so. She said that me writing a review would be bad for the whole company and that she would hate to have it negatively affect her. I found it incredibly unsettling that I was told I should not report the experience I had when It's completely warranted in this situation. 2:11 PM The manager of this second location comes in and tells me they are having issues as well and that they are working on it. 2:23 PM He comes back one last time and tells me they will not be able to get me a card today and that they are having system issues. Janine Amodeo then tells me that If I need money they could "Get you money". As if them giving me MY money is a favor in these circumstances. They are supposedly overnighting a new card to my address, I will have to set it up and deal with the crappy automated system now, and I had two hours of my day wasted because of this bank for absolutely no reason. It's incredible to me that the ATM outside the building could do its job better than the staff from two different banking locations. The ATM even told me to "Have a great day" before I walked away. You'd think the staff could at least have done that much. I will be looking for a new place to do my banking if these are the kinds of people in charge of my money.
